These guys were evaluated back in 2009 (& rejected by both eclectic and post rock it seems). There have been two albums since the previous threads I have found relating to this band: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=55044&KW=resonance+association" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=55044&KW=resonance+association

& I am listening to their latest album "Clarity In Darkness" now. Varied and quite interesting music, and it's definitely prog of some form or other (maybe psychedelic/space rock?) They seem to be classed as Post Industrial/ Experimental in various places though - this extract is from their myspace page ( http://www.myspace.com/theresonanceassociation" rel="nofollow - http://www.myspace.com/theresonanceassociation ):

"Lauded in post-industrial, progressive and mainstream rock press alike, The Resonance Association cements its position at the forefront of dark progressive music with its wildly eclectic third album, Clarity In Darkness.

Recorded in sessions throughout 2009, CiD sees the band's trademark styles, "atmospheric electronics, guitar solos, heavy drones and pulsing rhythms“ collide with epic, panoramic soundworlds.

Opening with the frenetic Dangerous Fantasist and the ominous Medal Of Dishonour, CiD is an uncompromising statement of independence and creativity.

Progressive Rock purists will delight in the twists and unexpected turns of the epic Heart Of Chaos and the majestic title track, while the band's reputation for fearless experimentation is further enhanced by the brooding, folk-influenced Pearlescence, the eclectic musings of Magick Is The Science and the ethereal ambience of How To Recognise Angels."

Just wondered if one or other team fancied re-evaluating them based on the new material available...

Sounds like an interesting case, I'm curious. I wasn't in the Post rock team back then.

We'll give them a new listen.

Dowloaded a couple of their albums some time ago. Could fit in a couple of genres (although tech/extreme would be pushing too far). FWIW, I have them tagged as electronic, although I haven;t heard anything recently by them.

Unhappy

The latest album might have been released in 2010, after this ping-pong game ... I'll recheck them.

I definitely think they could be added to the site but classification would be a challenging thing.

The band have completed two projects, and almost completed a third since "Clarity In Darkness" was released. In June 2010 they released a 4-track EP called "Heliopause Prelude" containing two songs from the Clarity In Darkness sessions that were considered too electronic for that particular album plus two other tracks. In June of this year they released a 6-track collection of songs called "Impossible Aeons", which is also very electronic. A new full album called "Heliopause" is also due any time now - it was actually mixed around the same time that Impossible Aeons was released. Details of these releases and where to obtain them can be found here: http://www.trahq.co.uk/index2.php" rel="nofollow - http://www.trahq.co.uk/index2.php

The band seem to be heading in a more electronic direction lately, but classification on here is going to be all but impossible based on the variation in styles they have covered in their career so far, and the fact that they are just so unlike anyone else! They seem to deliberately set out to create a 'genre hopping exploration of sounds', as their music was once described...

Good luck!!!

Edit. - I call them a band...but as far as I am aware there are just two guys involved here: Daniel Vincent and Dominic Hemy, both of whom play a variety of instruments.

I've heard the latest album and while part of it is experimental rock with some organ, a good part of it is bona-fide Space Rock with a heavy Pink Floyd influence. Whether it's enough to make it eligible for PA, that will be for the Space/Psych team to decide, I'll notify them.
