The band name surely catches the attention. The music is too symphonic for that name so at the first listen I've not been impressed, however the second part is not bad. The trick is forgetting Barrett and concentrate to the music only. There are psych elements but from the samples I have the impression that your music fits better in the neo-prog subgenre. Finding the right subgenre makes the addition to PA easier.
Which part of the Northwest are you from? I've been around Chester and North Wales for six years... I'm happy to be back to my home country but I've left a little piece of my heart there and the map of your gigs on Facebook has made my eyes blink. Say hello to the M53.

Have you guys released your full length album yet? I ask because to be evaluated on PA, you must have at least one studio album or one EP, and I don't think demos count as EPs (unless it is in fact an EP )

Hello, thanks for taking the time and listening to our tracks...
Ermm we are all from Warrington.
We can't necessarily either put a finger on what kind of genre we are, we don't get too held up on that, we just love music and writing music... I've written a full album called: 'The Esoteric Tales Of The Luminous Sun', however it is quite a struggle to fund the recording and mastering as we are all young lads. Another EP is written and should be finished by Feb 2012. Again, thanks for listening to our records and keep an eye or an ear out for the album, which we hope to have completed sooner, rather than later.
Andy, it is an EP, however I've called it a demo for some obscure reason...
The EP is called: 'The Pith Of Eleutheria' and as seen above, an album will be recorded as soon as possible.
Keep an eye on the facebook profile for any news..
Thank you

I think you guys may be a fine candidate for neo-prog. I'll alert the team.

I have a feeling in a couple of minutes the leader of the neo team will post a link to your band's page on ProgFreak.com, a website the genre teams use to evaluate bands. There you can follow how the members of the team vote on your band, and once you have enough yes votes, your band will be cleared for addition.
Ah, here it is. http://progfreak.com/The-Madcap-Laughs-148231.html?path=pa/neo" rel="nofollow - http://progfreak.com/The-Madcap-Laughs-148231.html?path=pa/neo
There you can follow the team's progress.

As others have said, the genre thing is just to make the things simpler. I agree that making music is what matters. A label is useful when managing a database.
Warrington is a nice town, even if I've been there just a couple of times. Too many speed cameras between the J10 and the town
Best wishes.

Again, thanks for taking the time. We could only afford to record two tracks and we are currently looking at recording an album, however it is a bit pricey, so we can't actually give a date of when we will be able to have an album recorded. You know it is a struggle to get recognition, in this day and age, and we'll just continue doing what we're doing and see what happens. We've got so much more songs, that are much better than the two on 'The Pith Of Eleutheria'. I would really appreciate it if we got into the PA, however I totally understand that there is a lack of songs, but they will be there in the near future... it's just having people there who can hear 'The Pith Of Eleutheria' who will want to hear more, and then we could release 'The Esoteric Tales Of The Luminous Sun'(the album).
Cheers
Haha Octopus, I can't wait to leave this town, I bloody hate it here. Thanks for your feedback before.
Take care

Sounds *very* psyche/space to me Damo!
On a personal note, you certainly have a reasonably professional sound for a first EP, good job.
It does sound like you're following a bit too closely in the footsteps of Pink Floyd to my ears.
Also, entirely un-musical but your EP and album names have me scratching my head...

Cheers Damo! Do we have any news or feedback from the team? Thank you Garden.Of course Floyd are an obivous influence to our selves, but so are King Crimson and Camel. I mean any recent band is going to be compared to a band or bands of the past, that's what people seem to do for some reason. But yes, it's a great compliment anyway to be recognised as being similar to one the best group of musicians ever. I'm a bit unsure what you mean about scratching your head, but cheers. I voted yes for inclusion on the neo prog sub-genre, but, thus far, i am a lone voice. it looks likely that the band will be evaluated by another team, probably eclectic or crossover.

News from the eclectics: you have been evaluated in last November and they voted "move" to Neo-prog. Later Neo voted "move to Psych and currently in the psych chart you have again a "move" to I don't know where and a "Discuss"
It looks like your music is uneasy to be classified in a subgenre and this is why your inclusion is getting so much time. To be honest I don't know what to think. Nobody apparently said "No, you're not prog"...
Let's try with Crossover.

Yeah, our system has many advantages in terms of categorization, but with it comes disadvantages too ... this "traveling band" syndrome, which we call "ping-ponging" is one of them.
Hopefully, we can deal with the matter finally.

Somebody will have to write the band's bio. You can send your story to one of the crossover admins who can paste it. Then somebody, even you, can add your discography. At this point somebody will likely write some reviews of them.
The process for Genesis and King Crimson was simpler, but in the end they have exactly one page as you will have

You could. Spending a few minutes at creating a bandcamp account (which is free), and putting up the album there with a name your own price option an even better one, which might even give you guys a few pennies in the beer account over time ;-) Just in case such monetary matters is of interest to a band in this day and age *chuckles*

We'd be over the moon, if people wanted to pay for our records. We're just glad with people listening to our music if anything ha. But yes, I will create a bandcamp account. I'm currently waiting on Mike, the guitarist to forward over the tracks to me, we've recently re-mixed the tracks to a far better quality, than the recordings found on youtube and soundcloud. As soon as Mike get's his arse into gear and I've uploaded the tracks and info to bandcamp, I'll inform you. It will definitely be sorted by tomorrow. Cheers

You know, being a part of a database that covers 6,951 artists at the time of writing isn't a great promotional pull in itself, apart from a fact that can be used for promotional purposes. Some will always stumble upon the recent additions list and explore, but that effect is short-lived. Progarchives is a good place for a prog band to be, but doesn't lead to much additional interest in itself. But as one of many facts used in your marketing it'll have a positive effect ;-)

Yeah, the good thing about how big PA is that even it has almost 7 thousands artists here, it has also a lot of users, many of them eager to explore new (latest) Prog bands, such as yourself. And PA can be quite selective at times when it comes to additions, so I am glad you are here now.
