BEYOND THE SHOURDED HORIZON - COMMENT BY STEVE

My new album Beyond the Shrouded Horizon breaks free from its moorings in early autumn and sets sail through choppy riffs and sudden electric storms to the odd romantic isle...

From Sinbad seas to Startrek oceans of deep sky, it's an odyssey. Invisible chords link pop to pomp, blues to baroque, embracing all genres discovered along the way. Let ethonic guitar forces and power of song take you to where waves crash through de-tuned orchestras over the edge of charted territories.

Hopefully it's better than the latest.

It does have a beautiful cover. Since he has divorced from Kim Poor he had to find other cover art. This picture is quite nice.

Now let's hope that the music is just as good. Or even better.

That would be nice, as the latest was also very great.

Cool.

Assuming I can find it when it comes out I'll probably get it. (Although I've still been ignoring his last one...)

Now would be a good time to get it as there is a deluxe edition now available.  Kind of cheesed that it wasn't available when he first started selling it.

His previous one was excellent! I'm looking forward to this new one very much. Great to see that he is so prolific now! He carries the spirit of Genesis far, far better and beyond than any of the other ex-members could or will ever do.

Wink

Pumped for this. Out Of The Tunnels Mouth was brilliant. And this one has better artwork. So perhaps the music within is also even better.

Is there anymore information on the content of the 2 disc edition? All I could find was a tracklist on Wikipedia. Will the bonus disc have demos, songs that didn't quite make the cut...? I can't wait for this release! Hopefully some tourdates will be announced soon.

"Eruption: Tommy" ... WOW, this is stunning. Did Steve really cover this wonderful Jan Akkerman solo from Focus' "Moving Waves" album? If yes -  then I do have to listen to this!

Great news!!

I also ordered the deluxe edition. It wasn't cheap.... But I'm happy that I'm getting a double cd, the more music the better! All preorders will be signed by the way.

No as far as I know cd2 will be real official songs, I don't think it is referred to as a "bonus" disc. But I think I read that it's 30 minutes. There's a review page on his site. Here is one review with comments on each track..

I've been a fan of Simon Phillips and Steve Hackett for about the same amount of time, 14 years or so, so it's a bit unreal for me to see them working together. But I don't know how the collaboration worked, if the drums were recorded in Hacketts studio, or if Phillips recorded them in his own studio. And maybe he just plays on one song, who knows. I've thought that they would be a great collaboration because they lean towards the same sound, a very big and booming sound. It's incredibly exciting.

Chris Squire on bass... is this the "Squakett" I've so much about for so long?

Chris Squire played one two tracks from "Out of the Tunnel's Mouth." However, Nick Beggs was the primary bassist on the album. I imagine it will be the same situation on the new album as well. Still, a full on Hackett/Squire collaboration album would be amazing.

An album exists---and Hackett - Squire have become friends--Squire went to Steve's wedding this summer---I think any release has been delayed because Squire is busy with Yes into next year.

I was wrong, the second cd is referred to as a "bonus cd" (not that it matters). Personally I don't like the word "bonus" when it comes to music, it makes it less serious, more like something thrown in as a curiosity.  And who knows, maybe that's what it is, we'll see..

Just been reading the reviews for this new album by Prog's #1 contributor, everyone seems to love it. I can't wait.

If it's better than 'Out of the Tunnels mouth' it will be something pretty special.

1 Song off the album premiers here:

http://www.guitarworld.com/exclusive-steve-hackett-premieres-new-song-place-called-freedom" rel="nofollow - http://www.guitarworld.com/exclusive-steve-hackett-premieres-new-song-place-called-freedom

...it's a bit up-tempo for my liking but when the 'Prairie Angel' themed guitar tune pops up in the middle it sends shivers down the spine!
