At first this band didn't really interest me so much... But then I just heard their name and nothing more.
I heard Heather Findlay's vocals on Ayreon's The Human Equation and was caught completely off-guard, abseluttly amazing beatiful voice! 
And after discovering that Pink Floyd had an major influence on this band I'm really getting interested. I'm mostly familiar with prog metal, although I love Pink Floyd. Anyway, for someone from loves Pink Floyd and progmetal(notably: Spiral Architect, Dream Theater, Opeth) witch album would you recommend? |

Well, my personal favorite so far is Passengers, their last one. I haven't heard their brand new album yet, although it should be coming in the mail in the next couple of days. Anyway, Passengers has the most contributions from Heather Findlay than any of the other Mostly Autumn albums and is their most original IMO. However, with Mostly Autumn, you really can't go wrong. All of their albums are gems. If you're a big Floyd fan, and want to check out what Mostly Autumn does with Floyd songs (their versions of Echoes, Sheep, and Julia Dream are excellent), and also get a good helping of their original music, I would recommend the Pink Floyd Revisited DVD. There is one album that I woulkd recommend to you: Avoid This Group ------------- let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

Quite ridiculous since Mostly Autumn is one of the best modern bands and singer Heather Findlay has an amazing voice and is quite a pleasure to look at as well! I would say that any of their albums is worth checking out but Passengers and The Last Bright Light are my personal favourites. |

I was just joking but Mostly Autumn is completely without interest for me. Yes , the singer is relatively cute but this is about the only thing they got going for them. Against them: not one ounce of creativity and have spent their carreer copying or trying to get their names associated with Floyd , Tull and others. Spend more time discussing other's merits than creating their own merit: see those crummy Inside So&So from Classic Rock DVD series. When playing folk rock or Celtic rock they are about as listless as Karnataka and much worse than Iona. Need I continue....... Yikes, you're harsh. Sure, they're not very original; and yes, Iona is the better band. Still, I love them and think they can be as good as Iona. I recommend "The Last Bright Light" and had the great pleasure of hearing their latest album "Storm Over Still Water" on the radio already a week or two ago. The best one I have heard is "The Last Bright Light". Though, this band is average at best imo. They are actually quite good at what they do but their sound is far too commercial and simplistic for me to enjoy it. |
