Hi all,

Progstreaming is a brand new site that legally streams the latest releases within the prog-field for a short amount of time at 128 kB/s.

The address is: http://www.progstreaming.com/" rel="nofollow - www.progstreaming.com

In association with Progarchives I will hereby give you all the updates at Progstreaming, so you may or may not discover new artists, or finally listen to artists they've all talked about.

I point out that this site is completely legal, and a labour of love! Enjoy it for what it's worth, and support us through facebook.

Thanks. Thorough preparation, being reviewer for Progwereld for ten years, so I know some people, and besides that I'm a very persuasive guy!

But then again, InsideOut said 'no'. Too bad.

I've got to say, I'm pretty impressed so far, like others have said above, good luck in the venture, this is a great way to preview albums.  I assume that you get some credit for albums that are linked directly from your site to the distribution sources, very cool.

I'm really diggin' The D Project and frankly, I probably wouldn't have found them if it weren't for your site.

If I could, I'd like to make a suggestion.  A now playing feature would be useful in this venue.  Right now, I'm listening to the fifth or sixth song on "Big Face" but I couldn't tell you which song.

Other than that, thank you for sharing, I'm relishing the chance to hear a lot of new stuff.

Thank you.

Thanks for the info! I actually *need* these kind of stories, to tell to the bands, so keep em coming. Especially labels are more afraid that people will more DOWNLOAD thanks to Progstreaming, but that's the world we live in. Luckily there still plenty of people who want to support progrock-2011.

If I were a progband, I would actually be honoured if I was downloaded a lot. Progbands should worry if they can't be found on the internet. But then again - I do understand the position label's are in.

Gevende are very good!

How about an "embed" feature for the audio player? Bloggers might want to promote the albums. And as the music is all underground, I don't think much of an burden on your bandwidth would occur.

And one technical request for the player: can it be made to show what track it's playing?

Posted By: Prog Geo
Date Posted: August 09 2011 at 09:00
I agree with that Alex. It would be good the player to show which track plays.

Thanks! I've discovered Gevende myself a couple of weeks ago, wondering what progheads will think about it. It encourage me to hear they very much like it. I'll have Hidden Orchestra within a couple of weeks, one more release that's a bit more adventurous.

About your features: if I had all the features that I originally wanted in Progstreaming, the site wouldn't have existed yet. So I had to make some though choices to make sure the site would actually appear. I've been pre-working on this with little means (so, support through the donate-button, way at the bottom of the site, would be welcome indeed) to get this site going.

That said, those features are the ones I look forward to conceive in Progstreaming version 2.0. I'm saving for that now. January 2012 at the earliest.

Three SeasonsThumbs Up

Great 70's style heavy prog with emphasis on the bass, reminiscent of Beardfish. Actually turns out to be yet another Swedish band. Unfortunately these Swedish bands often lack proper production but Three Seasons is ok.

...and then you add Presto Ballet which is from the same mold but with much better production. Thanks for adding Invisible Places, their only release that I do not own. Your addition will help give them the exposure they deserve.

Hi there!

Progstreaming has been a tremendous success the first two months. I would like to thank all those who regularly visit the site! I very much hope you've done some great discoveries, and I would like to know if you actually purchased some items. Please spread the word, tell other progfans about this great site.

I've thought about a funny special for coming December, something to please the visitors a lot during the Christmas Holidays. I'm going to feature some (probably 20) 'classics' or 'missed masterpieces' of 2010. For that I need your help.

So please send back the 5 progressive masterpieces you think deserves some more attention, but only 2010. Don't come up with really big names, but those that have slipped under the radar, and deserve a wider audience. I'm sure you'll think of something. An explanation why is not necessary, but appreciated nonetheless.

The coming months I will do my utmost best to ask the labels and bands for permission to stream some of the most beautiful releases you've asked for. It will not be a poll though!

I'm pretty sure this special will a delight for progressive rockfans all over the world. You will sure discover some new material, no doubt!

So go ahead, start thinking. Just put it on this forum, I read everything!
Best regards,
Markwin Meeuws

Here are my 5 progressive albums from 2010:
1. Lover's End- Moon Safari (the perfect blend of beautiful vocal harmonies against a symphonic prog back drop. Just amazingly beautiful music)
2. Hybrid Child- District 97 (one of the most promising new progressive acts to come around in a while with great female vocals and an interesting blend of progressive and pop)
3. Aquarius- Haken (Some of the most interesting and varied progressive metal I have heard in a while with some excellent instrumental sections)
4. Mars Hollow- Mars Hollow (Their self-titled debut album is a great throwback to the classic prog of the seventies)
5. Harvest Aorta- Ephemeral Sun (A fantastic all instrumental prog metal album).

And, if I could have one more choice, I would also say "Future Past" by Hasse Froberg and the Musical Companion. One of the best Flower Kings related albums I have heard.

I hope that was what you were looking for! Tongue

This coming Friday, quite a lot of featured items will sadly fall of the site. Now is your last chance to listen to them (again). Please do, for these following items are too good to be true:

- Trettioariga Kriget "Efter Efter"
- Traumpfad "Aufbruch"
- Fabio Zuffanti "La Foce Del Ladrone"
- Unexpect "Fables Of The Sleepless Empire"

So please send back the 5 progressive masterpieces you think deserves some more attention, but only 2010. Don't come up with really big names, but those that have slipped under the radar, and deserve a wider audience. I'm sure you'll think of something. An explanation why is not necessary, but appreciated nonetheless.

The coming months I will do my utmost best to ask the labels and bands for permission to stream some of the most beautiful releases you've asked for. It will not be a poll though!
