Would you leave Prog Archives (forum, database, everything) for life if someone offered you 12,000 USD (7,400 GBP) right now to do so?

If it was say, being shot in the foot. I could probably live with that for 7grand of Prog CD's and beer.

I've thought about this ... and for now I think my answer is, no I would not. I could use $12K (who couldn't) but there are other methods I can use to get $12K. They may take longer, but money is ultimately a fluid thing that comes and goes and is easily replaceable.
Then again, the people and info from PA have spread beyond this websites boundaries to places like lastfm, facebook, and listening room, so maybe it wouldn't be such a big deal.

The logistics of this are challenging what with music playing in public places, friends playing music when you are around, etc...
But to never be in control of the music I hear and only hear it as a consequence of someone else playing it who is indifferent to my tastes ... well ... no amount of money would be worth it.
I mean, probably half of the money I spend beyond cost of living / etc. goes to music related things anyways, so without the ability to listen to music I wouldn't really need more money than I have now anyways.

It doesn't really matter how much I make. If M@x made PA so that there would be a one time membership fee of $12,000, I would laugh as I closed my browser never to return again. Most other people would too. That's not how the question is phrased, but it's equivalent.

No for me as well.
If I'm lucky I have a few decades left on the planet, and as they say, you can't take it with you. Enjoyment trumps bank balance for me at this point. Yeah, I could pay some bills or maybe put it into new wheels, but the fact is that sites like this one give me more pleasure than most other material things, or paying bills would. Here I find new music which gives me great joy, I help musicians gain attention, and work with some very nice people in the Collab zone. $12K wouldn't bring me as much pleasure unless as other alluded it were spent on a weekend of partying and high priced escorts....kidding
Now if the amount were elevated to an amount that could change my life, like allowing me to retire from work a few years earlier....then perhaps I'd vote Yes. But $12k would simply not change my life in any exciting way, thus, I'll take the fun of PA for now.

Now that the euro is still worth something , somebody needs to re - calculate this for the Europeans of the euro zone, and if I checked the thread well, nobody has done that yet. Let me see, that's almost € 8 500. Yes, I would take it. I like PA a lot and it's one of the 4 or 5 sites that I visit most, but I wouldn't call PA an essential part of my life. PA isn't prog itself. I would miss it, but the prog itself remains. With €8 500 euro I could do a lot of things and still talk about prog in another way, through another channel.
