My votes:
http://www.kinesiscd.com - www.kinesiscd.com - my fave - lots of MP3s which makes shopping for obscure prog a safe experience. Plus fast service
http://synphonic.8m.com/ - http://synphonic.8m.com/ - unbelievably huge catalogue, extremely fast service. Plus owner Greg Walker has been thanked on most prog albums in the past 20 years, so you get to deal with prog royalty. No MP3s though. Sniff.
http://www.progrockrecords.com - www.progrockrecords.com I haven't ordered from them, and they have a smaller selection, but they have lots of MP3s.
http://www.amazon.com - www.amazon.com Strange but true, they have a lot of obscure albums, and a growing number of MP3s.
Any others?

It's almost as if he lurks by your mail box, and 1 minute after you place an order, it's there!

Hello there my friend Kirklott. Good ones you have mentioned there but there are SO MANY other GREAT ones. Almost too many to list but here is a few more of my favorites. (You listed my 2 favs already - Kinesis and Syn-Phonic)
http://www.lasercd.com/Merchant/lasercd/ - http://www.lasercd.com/Merchant/lasercd/ - Best place on the net for Prog metal and good for getting the more popular modern re-issues.
http://www.waysidemusic.com/default.asp - http://www.waysidemusic.com/default.asp - Great for older classic prog and avant-garde type prog.
http://www.znrcds.com/osc/catalog/index.php?osCsid=92265897e449c2355ab520796ab097f5 - http://www.znrcds.com/osc/catalog/index.php?osCsid=92265897e 449c2355ab520796ab097f5 - Has many of the easier bands to find though they have some obscure ones as well.
https://www.freakemporium.com/new3/index.cgi - https://www.freakemporium.com/new3/index.cgi - Click on the "progressive" link on the left. Great English site for all kinds of out of print and classic music like jazz, psych, rock and of course prog.
http://www.mandmmusic.com/ - http://www.mandmmusic.com/ - Smaller site but has some good specials and prices.
http://www.bigballoonmusic.com/ - http://www.bigballoonmusic.com/ - Good site with nice band reviews as well as cds.
http://www.cdbaby.com/ - http://www.cdbaby.com/ - Fantastic site for indie bands and for listening to music from all over the world before you buy.
------------- Best of 2006 that I've heard:
PFM-Stati Di Immaginazione
Zenit-Surrender (Best "unknown" album)
Oaksenham - Conquest of Pacific
2007:
Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon
La Torre Del Alchimista - Neo

Yah, I was lucky that when I got back into prog BIGTIME, I went looking for a CD on the internet of a rare old album I own (Mainhorse) and found it at Freak Emporium. After I peeled my eyes off the screen in amazement at finding this "unheard" of album on CD (!!!) no less, I looked for other old albums I love on CD (like Focus 3 and VdGG "Godbluff") on the net and found these other places to my amazement. 500 cd's later, I am not stopping buying anytime soon!

If you know what you want, Greg Walker at Synphonic is hard to beat. His import albums are usually the cheapest around, and shipping is fast.

My experiences of still existing prog vendors:
http://www.synphonic.8m.com - http://www.synphonic.8m.com
Greg Walker seems to get a lot of praise. He deserves all of it. The #1 place to buy prog!
http://www.hicom.net/~dlarson/ - http://www.hicom.net/~dlarson/
Used only a few times and service was good.
http://www.lasercd.com - http://www.lasercd.com
Has some great bargain cds which I occasionally purchase. This vendor used to be a lot better years ago. For example, I remember purchasing lots of Italian prog classics for just $9.00 each!! Nowadays Ken Golden concentrates much more on prog-metal and metal in general. My assumption is that he made this change because metal sells a lot better. Good for him.
http://www.btf.it - http://www.btf.it
Used only a few times and service was good. Store of the Italian Vinyl Magic label.
http://www.eventyr-records.it - http://www.eventyr-records.it
Italian vendor that I have used in the past two years. The service is good.
http://www.mandmmusic.com - http://www.mandmmusic.com
I haven't used this vendor for years and I'm not even sure if he stocks new items anymore. This was my first online vendor and I used to order a lot from here. The service was good.
Haven't used yet but I'm going to make my next order here:
http://www.waysidemusic.com - http://www.waysidemusic.com
Not really any bad experiences so far!

It depends where you are on this planet.
In the UK:
Amazon.UK
Leicester's Ultima Thule (Audion), especially for Krautrock and European prog. Because of the Freeman brothers' some times contraversial views, can be a lively debating place on Saturday afternoons - literally nextdoor to Leicester railway station in Conduit Street.
In the States I've used
Artist Shop - which specialises in US indie labels and imports
Abstractlogix: excellent discounted base for jazz rock fusion, world jazz fusion - has a number of mpeg to sample, e.g. Hellborg and Lane - but not adversed at selling straighter prog, e.g. David Cross's new album should be available there v. soon.

Geezer, I have also just listened to some samples of a band called il castello atlante ... very akin to LDF, PFM etc ... I had to search very hard to track their stuff ... eventually have 2 last albums on their way ... I can send you some MP3s when I get the cds, if you haven't heard them yet.
Yes, I would prefer being President of the GW Fanclub because as secretary I would be in charge of the financial matters ... and would be tempted to embezzle all the $$ and give to Greg by buyng his Cds ... hey, come to think of it ... that would be ok wouldn't it ...

If you understand German, go here: www.saturn.de . Saturn is probably
the biggest record shop in the world. Of course there is not only prog
there, but they have a HUGE stock.
One advantage of their online shop: You can actually listen to the records they sell!

I ordered once with him, he did answer because some vinyls I oredered were not on his list anymore. The vinyl ratings are exagerayed and so are the prices. A VG/good album is called Mint/Mint is his world. Service was quick though!
But of all places I ordered and mentioned here, Greg Walker is the best , almost the cheapest and certainly quick> Four days from Denver to Belgium.
I also ordered from Gary Davis at the Artist Shop. Good service.

I would have to give mad props to Kinesiscd.com and ZNRCDS.com. I've been dealing with both of these guys (Larry and Steve respectively) for years now. Great vendors, good prices, and pretty large selection. Fast service too. I ordered from both Larry and Steve on Saturday and received my cd's today from both of them.

Hello all,
This is my firs posting here and this thread is the main reason why I
registered. I am quite surprised to see that no one is in the knowledge
of my site at : www.musicbymail.dk.
Feel welcome to take a visit and mail me your queries. Has anyone here already been in touch with me?
For those who don't know me, here's the short CV. I'm Pierre, French,
violinist and living in Denmark. I'm still a working musician, actually
member of the Danish band Taylor's Free Universe, featuring Karsten
Vogel (Burning Red Ivanhoe, Secret Oyster), Peter Friis Nielsen (Peter
Brötzman trio), Lars Juul (Steve Arguelles, Sound Of Choice), somewhere
around avant garde free improvised and progressive music. I was working
in the South-East of France in the mid 70's and have been close to the
many French groups having worked at the Massiera studios in Antibes
(Carpe Diem, Dies Irae). I moved to Denmark in 83 and Music By Mail is
a mail order dedicated to many *musics for not dying stupid*. I hope
you will enjoy what you see there. Take care and see you around,
Pierre
