Anglagard's Mattias Olsson on Facebook:
May 29th:
Tomorrow is the first day of the rehearsals for the new Änglagård album. Dates booked for recording in August. Its gonna be interesting and with a bit of luck....loud & weird.
June 1st:
Rehearsals for the new Änglagård album are going really well...figuring out polyrhythms between hands, feet and ears. 15 minute long songs, swirly Mellotrons and Taurus pedals. It feels like we just went out for coffee for eight years and just walked back into the rehearsal room.
June 3rd:
Last day of the Änglagård rehearsals. We have managed to get two songs into recordable shape which feels great. That means that by mid august half of the drum tracks will be done...

Yeah, the build-up towards the new album is very slow, but they were buried weren't they? So I can live with that.

Not only are Anglagard alive and recording a new album, they will be playing live again, according to their facebook.
Ok...so after a couple of months of discussing and a whole lot of talking we have decided that paralell with the recording of a new album Änglagård will be doing some live shows again in 2011 and 2012. There are already discussions about some very interesting gigs but nothing is settled yet but we will inform as soon we have all the details. Best regards, Mattias Olsson

It isn't nearly as good as Hybris.

I like both. Of course, "Hybris" is my favourite album too, but that was a magnificent pair of masterpieces! And maybe soon we'll get "three of a perfect pair"!

People of Progverse, did you know that Anglagard is back? Well i did NOT know and finding that out put a big smile on my face since they were responsible for a couple of amazing albums and my regaining faith in the possibility of Prog Rock´s ressurgence in the early 90s. Read here:

"Finally.
The recording of Änglagårds third album starts today. The plan is to
record drums on two songs, and possibly some grand piano and Timpani.
Thomas and Jonas have been working hard this weekend getting all the
monitor files in order and I have been trying to figure out how much
crapola Ill be bringing to the studio. With a bit of luck it will all
work out."

Saw that update today. So stoked, especially since I seem to be in the minority who much preferred Epilog

They've sent me an E-Mail via their newsletter mailing list, that will be buried sooner or later (they mention), sad to say.
Anglagard have been busy recording a new album. There no release date yet (or label or name or cover), but Spring / Summer 2012 should be a good guess. A documentary about the making of the album is being made; the first part can be watched at http://vimeo.com/36273489" rel="nofollow - http://vimeo.com/36273489 .

Awesome! Very curious to see what they sound like after absorbing 8 years worth of influences. Hybris is quite possibly my favourite 90's album from any genre, and it's up there for favourite overall. About halfway through "Kung Bore" I always drop anything I'm doing and rock out like a maniac.

Man, so many people have been waiting for this one album for so long. I can't wait! Super excited. The album cover is very cool as well. It has that dark, murky look that was shown on the previous album that I really enjoy.

I love that it's only 57 min long. That means they were careful only to include what they were inspired to do, and didn't try to write more only to fill the size of the CD. I hope this will be great.

Still, that's just three minutes short of an hour; it's a lot of music.

Alvarsdotter said that the album would be available in the first week of July. And BTW, the video you posted is not a new song, it's from their second album
Posted By: Dellinger

I'm sort of excited... I loved their first album. The second one I only heard on Youtube a couple of times and didn't sound as great as the first one... but I'd need to give it more listens to be sure. I wonder what will the new one sound? More similar to the first or the second? Or something completley new?
And how complicated it might be to get it.
