The Rain Song is brilliant, and I like both the studio and the live version from Song Remains the Same. Oddly enough, it is raining here as well, even hailing. Hell, my favorite ELO album is New World Record, right after Face the Music. It's one of my favorite records of the 1970's. Ah, so many untrivial hooks in a row! Telephone Line, Shangri-La, Do Ya, wheeeee! I can't help it. Lynne did the opposite of what ELP tried to do. ELP tried to give classical music a rock edge. Lynne gave pop music a classical edge. Me, I openly prefer the latter. Hmmm, Pet Sounds or Tarkus? I think my heart has chosen.
