There were good things happening in prog when giants of '70's prog were dissolving or fading away to commercialism. I.O.U. was about as commercial as Allan got and it was damn fine album and not really commercial anyway. Road Games should have been a full length album, Jeff Berlin and Jack Bruce, holy cow. Metal Fatigue, my favorite piece: The Un-Merry-Go-Round. I don't have Atavachron on CD yet. The LP was lost in the flood. Need to rectify that. My favorite Sand track is the rather un-Holdsworth Mac Man. Secrets: he was beginning to lose me a little with the later discs, good stuff but not as enjoyable for me as his earlier stuff including appearances in other bands, particularly in the '70's ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I had to go with I.O.U. Probably a bit biased as I got to meet Allan and the band back stage when they came to Atlanta. Got autographs on an inner sleeve as the i.o.u. album was black. Also a couple of band photos with autographs.

IOU followed by Metal Fatigue. And in my opinion the first half of the eighties were really good music-wise.It was the last half that sucked.

^ ^ No gold markers? Would've been perfect. I had the black cover too, though the red reissue is handsome. Road Games is special to me cause it involved Eddie VH and consequently was a nice crossover into the instrum. rock market for Holdsworth. Sand is so weird it's good, Secrets is just premium Allan, and don't tell anyone but I don't own Metal Fatigue  |

I had most of the LPs that hadn't been replaced by CDs on the top
shelf. A few Rypdals should have been up there, but weren't and vinyl
aficionados may know ECM made high quality discs. One of my former
bosses adopted and cleaned all the LPs that got soaked.
