Hello,

This may have been answered elsewhere, but I searched and couldn't find it.

As I understand it, submitting a review to ProgArchives gives the site an *exclusive* licence to reproduce it on the site. In theory, that means that we can't post a review we've previously posted here elsewhere or give other people permission to use the review.

Two questions:

- Does this apply to MetalMusicArchives? Maybe I'm confused but I'm under the impression that both sites are under the same (or overlapping) management, and there's a big overlap between the two sites when it comes to the proggy end of metal or the metally end of prog. Is it OK to post a review of a metal album to both sites under the same username?

- How about other websites that offer free databases of user-submitted reviews? Is it OK to post our reviews in both places provided that the other website's terms and conditions permit reviewers to post their reviews on other sites? In other words, is it OK to put our reviews elsewhere so long as they're not being used for commercial purposes, or is even non-commercial use not OK?

I think the easy answer is that we would never want to see the site tied up in red tape and legal ins and outs.

We've never taken action because a reviewer has posted their review elsewhere, or posted a review here that they had previously posted elsewhere. We'd only act if someone was copying someone else's review.

MMR and Jazz archives are separate sites, but come under the same umbrella. They run independently of each other, but I can't see any problem with someone posting the same review to two of these sites.

Cool. Didn't think you'd really make a fuss about that sort of thing but thought it prudent to check.
