Been listening to Quella Vecchia Locanda for about two weeks and, I must admit, they put classical violin-'n'-flute-'n'-more bands that I've heard and loved (like Mägo de Oz) to shame. The first time I heard the electric guitar swoop in behind an acoustic violin--ahhhhhh!

Sorry, I just need to share my wonder and awe of this band. And for the sake of giving this thread a point, does anybody else listen to QVL? Are there any other bands, Italian prog or otherwise, which employ a classical technique similar to QVL?

I've heard PFM, Celeste, and bits of Alusa Fallax. All were enjoyable, but none quite had that QVL sophistication.

Any related recommendations and stories of passing out cold at QVL music would be appreciated.

I also like QVL but I can't say I'm crazy about the jazzy elements in the music... Have you listened to Samadhi ?

I only know their 1st album, which I like. I listened to a track from their 2nd album on ProgArchives MP3, which sounds fantastic, so I guess Tempo Della Goia will be one of the first cd's I'll buy in the near future. I only don't like the idea that the album only lasts 30 minutes or so.
