Jung People is a strong power duo combining influences from Post Rock, Progressive Rock, Indie Rock, Punk Rock, Folk, Brit Pop, Electronica, and Metal. Comprised of members from Octillian, Das Window, Telegram Falls Silent! Stop, Equals, I'm A Bad Man and Kobra and the Lotus to name a few. Members Giordano and Octobuss being best friends since they we're stupid skater kids have loved and still love most styles of music that have greatly impacted music as an Art. After attending MI "Musicians Institute" in Hollywood, California. They set out to create a band to unite all these influences with messages supporting "Vegetarianism", "Animal Rights", "Humanitarianism", "Gay Rights", and anything promoting the health of a better world. Enjoy.
  • Members

Octobuss - (Guitars, Keyboards, Lap Steel), Giordano W. Bassi - (Drums, Keyboards, Samples)
  • Influences

Post Rock, Progressive Rock, Indie Rock, Punk Rock, Folk, Brit Pop, Electronica, and Metal.
  • Sounds Like

The belief that every human is generally good and will fix all the stupid sh*t they f**ked up.

Jung People, I believe, would be a great addition to the post-rock/math-rock subgenre.

They currently have one EP and one album out, both available here (all tracks are listenable):  http://jungpeople.bandcamp.com/album/gal-pagos-ep" rel="nofollow - http://jungpeople.bandcamp.com/album/gal-pagos-ep

Jung is an interesting and crazy psychologist and philosopher. Its witty because his name is pronounced young.

The studio album contains the 3 tracks of the EP, plus the others (one of those being a cover of KC's "Red").

Glad you like it, Alex. Big smile

Brilliant music, IMO.

Alright, sounds great!

I Facebook-messaged one of the band members to see if there's anything he'd like me to include in the bio, so it may be some time before he gets back to me.

In the meantime, THANK YOU to everyone who helped out! Clap

"JUNG PEOPLE is an instrumental rock/metal act based out of Calgary, Canada. Consisting of two members (who both attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California), Octobuss (8-string guitar, FX, synth, etc.) and Giordano W. Bassi (drums, samples, keys, etc.), JUNG PEOPLE formed in late 2010 after the breakup of the pair of members' various musical acts, including progressive-metal band Octillian. The band name "Jung People" is an homage to Swiss psychiatrist and founder of Analytical Psychology Carl Jung, who stressed free-thinking, human rights and individualism. His influence is clear in the sound of their musical pieces, as is the influence of author Kurt Vonnegut, whose ideals included similar ideas as those of Jung.

The spirit of JUNG PEOPLE is to create music that is equally and powerfully influenced by art, emotion, and all things truly meaningful. JUNG PEOPLE succeed greatly with this train of musical thought, and manage to create thoughtful, beautiful, moody pieces full of transcendental energy and emotion. Their sound often shifts from introspectively soft, to heavy and intensely rhythmic, creating grooves as well as melody throughout.

Genre influences include that of post-rock, metal, punk, progressive rock, indie, folk and electronica.

Fans of Mogwai, King Crimson, Oceansize, John Zorn, Pink Floyd, Battles, Sigur Ros, Godspeed You!Black Emperor, Mars Volta, and Russian Circles, etc.,  are HIGHLY recommended to check out JUNG PEOPLE.

JUNG PEOPLE currently have one EP and one album out."

Nice job indeed! I edited the bio a bit for some upper case words ans some minor corrections. Jordan, is that a list of your favourite bands? Tongue I ask coz I don't see the connection to John Zorn or Mars Volta.

No, that was a list they made of their own influences.

Personally, I can see the connection to Mars Volta, if only in punk aesthetic. Sorry if that seems misleading.
I've not listened to Zorn; that was a mistake on my part (that was another of their influences).

If they listed those themselves then it makes a lot of sense indeed. Anyway I was joking, because I KNOW that a list of your faves always starts with PT Wink
