Breaking NEWS !!!! The Flower kings to reunite for ONE show at the famous Madison Square Garden NYC Nov 25th - Lineup will include ALL past members (plus celebrity guest) except Hasse Bruniusson who has other commitments. Tickets will be on sale starting June 6th and will range from 60 usd- 350 usd . more info to follow.  By Roine Stolt's FB.

Sounds pretty good. Too bad NYC is 11 hours from where I live. I've done such a ride to see a band but it was for Jethro Tull and even if I like The Flower Kings, they are not JT for me :P

| Oh, they will easily sell out the 20,000 seats if the recent concerts of Agents of Mercy attendance are anything to go by. I would like to see them, but I'll be at the smaller Felt Forum (an amphitheater behind MSG) to see the live opera of Star Wars - The Phantom Menace by Jeff Wayne for opening night. |

Well, now that you pointed it out... Madison Square Garden really doesn't sound to me like a tfk-kinda-venue And, btw, wasn't it last april fools that the they announced on their website the band was officially over, removing the post a few days later? I'm kinda lost here, really |

If they would have said the theater at MSG it would have been a bit more believable, but The Flower Kings wouldn't even have the pull in Europe to play a venue the size of MSG, let alone in the states. If there was any justice in this world TFK would be playing stadiums. It's a damn shame they don't have more followers, even among the prog community. They deserve it more than anybody. In the meantime, theres the third Agents of Mercy album, a new Karmakanic album, Hasse's secret project, and whatever Tomas is doing. The Flower Kings reunion can wait as long as it needs to. -------------

Just so you know, the 'Felt Forum' (where I saw Focus at my first ever concert in 1973) is now called 'The Theatre at Madison Square Garden.' Yes, and 20,000 seats sold for TFK? I have my doubts. |

All one has to do is look at the date to know this is a hoax. Also, Madison Square garden holds about 20,000 people which means the venue would have about 19,500 empty seats. :D |

I wholeheartedly agree. These days anyone who complains about Yes and Genesis being lame after the seventies needs to listen to TFK and shut up.  But I agree about not enough prog fans knowing about them. I get the feeling that anyone who just discovered prog or rediscovered prog in the past four or five years might have missed them and not been exposed to them. They were big in prog circles in the nineties though and one of the big three of the so called third wave(the other two being Porcupine Tree and Spock's Beard although imo it should be a big four or five to include DT and OT). I was just playing some stuff at my birthday party yesterday. I played the Roine Stolt album "the flower King" followed by Space Revolver. My brother now wants me to burn a copy for him. Better late than never. But yeah if ever there was a band that deserves a bigger audience it's the Flower Kings. PT got pretty huge a few years ago now it's FK's turn. Apparently Roine and the guys are going to go in the studio later this year to work on a new album and no that's not a April Fool's joke so no thankfully they have not split up. |
