Raw lobster on a bed of hardback novels.

Pure prog! Why isn't this meal in the Archives?!

Edit: And oranges are clearly more progressive than apples. Any fool can see that.

True, but oranges are still prog, unlike apples. Apples are no more than pretentious pop!

How dare you insult neo fruit like that?! It may not be the same as the glory days of fruit but it's better than any other modern fruit!

Dragon fruit owns all.

It's an underground fruit centralized around China and the far East that has a small but extremely loyal following. Dragon fruit has proceeded from decade to decade while still maintaining its freshness and unique flavour. When other fruits go rotten, dragon fruit always stays one step ahead of the rest with a delicious treat that continues to please long-standing fans and is quick to take new ones in.

Oranges try too hard, to be honest. They're way too pretentious. They aim to be as nutritious as possible, and in the end only end up being a senseless amalgamation of acids and tastes that have no feeling and don't lead the taster anywhere. At least dragon fruits know their limits.

the best prog food is the new version of Jell-O 1-2-3: three layers of different gelatine textures! mmmmmmmmmm!

oreo cookies are pretty progressive too, especially when you insert them in bubble gum ice cream!

Tangerine: that's progressive stuff. They discovered that in Germany in the late 1960's  . It made people dream, it was quite psychedelic, that fruit.

Yes, but dragon fruits rarely ever explore new territory, and each bushel tastes like the last.

What about plantains? They have a little more ego than the banana. I'd have to say grapes are pretty prog because of their complex vine arrangements.

Prog rock is to prog metal as oranges are to grapefruits.

They fall into similar categories, but the latter of each pair is heavier and more controversial.

This is the best thread we've had on here in quite some time.

Oh yeah, and it's obvious that mangos are the epidome of all progressive fruit.  Apples are too mainstream, anyone can appreciate them.  Oranges have some progressive moments, but they really fell apart in the 80s for awhile.

I dunno about mangoes, I think passion fruit is the most progressive.

Oranges are a lot like metal, you got all different kinds that differ in style; blood oranges (death metal), mandarin oranges (mainstream metal with a progressive twist)...

What about a tomato (has anyone mentioned this yet?). By nature it is a fruit, but can be mistaken for a vegetable! It is succulent like a fruit, yet has characteristics found in vegetables! The only drawback is that it is tender and bruises easily, which means it is probably picked on by prog elitists (the apples, oranges, watermelons and bananas). I would probably classify it as Dream Theater or The Flower Kings. ::::Notice that the tomato has a more complex seed pattern in it's core, much more so than the apple and watermelon::: :)

Everyone is talking about Fruit and it's progability, but really, seeds are THE proto-prog. Without the seeds, prog-fruit would never have occured. We must, therefore, study the development from seed to the breakfast bowl.

Funny how no one mentions dingleberries. Any progster who delves into the cunniligual protocol of prog understands the impact dingleberries have on modern culture. One may ask, are dingleberries fruit or just a symptom of poor hygiene? Only Dr. Garten knows for sure.

Biggles really nailed it. It's dragonfruit all the way. Anything else is really just vegetables with more sugar and various dodgy tactics to be all non-vegetably.

I'd rather have a cucumber, because at least that's a real vegetable, that's not afraid to show it.

Okok- now I KNOW you are all mad. Mad mad MAD. I would say Sushi is progressive food because it seems to have 'all the essentials' but that's not so much progressive as regressive- there is definite NOSTALGIA in the sushi dammit!

So I leave you with an onion. An onion has so many layers yet its so friggin boring! All the layers are the SAME THING!

Sooo I guess you could say A Pavalova is progressive: could be Aussie could be Kiwi- who knows. It's go sweeet creamy layers and fruit of any kind and *drools*

Right- i'm off to the fridge for some midnight lite icecream.....*drools more*

I think that cucumbers are really prog.. why?

1) Because they are about 25 cmins long.

2) They have a crunchy Intro/ Outro, but with a softer, more melodic centre.

3) They have a subtle, layered flavour & texture, not at all 'in your face'.

4) It has a 'Close To The Edge' green coating.

Progressive food, like good progressive music, is cutting-edge, startling,
witty and highly original. The Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire (UK), Sketch in
London (UK) and El Bulli in Spain are probably the world's most
progressive restaurants.

i like fruit...

...especially starfruit...

...but only when they are ripe and sweet, not tart...

...but mangos are good too...

...in fact, since phish is in the archives and they have a song called "the mango song," then mangos are very prog...

...but hey, what about watermelons...

...frank zappa had a song called "watermelons in easter hay" so that makes watermelons prog too...

...the most non-prog fruit is wihtout a doubt the apple, because chris martin's (from coldplay) child is named Apple.Confused

Bannanas are definetly pop, because that annoying Gwen Stefani song.  Dragonfruit is obviously prog, for already explained reasons.  Kamquats are geek, for there over use in that HTML book published by O'Reilly.  Spam is comedy, because that parody of Stand by Weird Al.

Well I'd say those rainbow ice lollies are the most prog, they simple on the outside yet inside are many layers of differnt flavours to be found creating an overall taste which is tangy, yet also at the ame time blending to create an symphony of flavours.

Also Bannas are the most prog fruit, as they are longer than all others and at first glance look decidily boring yet once you've gotten under the skin is a soft delicious fruit. Also were as other foods like the cabbage just go strait on, the bannana suprises us all by bending off and taking another route.
