I love every song in this album!! Well...."The Answer Lies Within" is a little bit.... you know.... too comercial... (It looks like a mix between U2 and Coldplay)

I think I like "Panic Attack" best but must admit to not being overly impressed on the first couple of listens.  Then again, I felt the same about "Falling Into Infinity" and it's now my joint favourite DT album (along with "Awake").

Sorry, but 'Octavarian' is the only decent track on it. And even that song becomes a little disjointed in the middle

OCTAVARIUM

Never Enough. The way the music slides up and down while Labrie sings is just a wonderful haunting feeling which is just awsome.

OCTAVARIUM, obviously. one of the best songs of DT. Now as I got into it, I think it even beats ACOS.

Octavarium for me.

The noodling at the beginning doesn't yet make any sense to me (up until Petrucci plays the main theme on the slide guitar).

So I vote for Never Enough ...

In my opinion, "The Root of All Evil" is the worst edition to Portnoy's AA series yet. Too bad, because "The Glass Prison" and "This Dying Soul" are both amazing.

I don't know why I'm so adicted to These  Walls... But Octavarium is mindblowing, so It gets my vote.... (It'd still be better with Moore!!!!!!!!!)

Octavarium is great.

But Never Enough is ok too, although it reminds me a lot of Muse.

Easy poll this one cos' Octavarian is the only good track on it!

This is almost the silliest thread I have seen, the title track (to me) seems to be by SO FAR the best track on the CD.

1. Octavarium
2. These walls
3. The Root Of All Evil

I just heard Octavarium for the first time and I dont know. It didnt had the same impact that as Awake or Falling into infinity. The sound is just too heavy and one of the things I like about DT is that they can be heavy and melodic at the same time, and Octavarium is not their best example of heaviness/melody. But I promise I'll answer to this poll after a second or third hearing. Its not their easiest album that's for sure.

Clearly Octavarium but "I Walk Beside You" is awsome too.

Octavarium

And the album as a whole is as great

i made up my mind ... and the winner is OCTAVARIUM by a
mile... no, a thousand miles...
The rest of the album doesnt impress me. Its too heavy for my standards.
If DT released Octavarium as an EP like they did with a Change of Seasons
I would give it 5 stars, but as a album its not that fantastic. Anyway
Octavarium (the track) is among the best they ever did.
Congratulations

Octavarium IS the masterpiece that DT has prodused so far and if they mange to surpass it on another album it will blow me away.

IMO Octavarium is a three star album (3 1/2) stars, and Octavarum (the song) is overrated. Most of the songs aren't bad, but where's the creativity and originality gone?

The originality clearly went over your head. Plenty of people out

Opinions are divided on the subject. If I rate it 3 1/2 stars, it still means that it's a good album. I don't like the way they try to please 70's prog fans by all the 70's prog references on the title track. I really like the 70's references in the Full Circle section and the following instrumental frenzy, but as a whole the track fails to achieve true greatness.

I really like The Root of all Evil, Never Enough, Panic Attack and Sacrificed Sons. But the magic of I&W, Awake and ACOS is long gone.

Octavarium would be my choice, but The Answer Lies Within is still one of the top ones, so since it ranks in with zero votes, I guess I'll put that one. Just to be fair, is all.
