Okay, we all have our own opinions on who are the best bands in
progressive rock, but who is the coolest-looking?

This is based on style and demeanor. Their method of playing their
respective instruments (vox included) is important too.

I personally think Steve Hackett circa Foxtrot-era (with the glasses) wins,
but Nick Mason from the "Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii" film is a close
second.

Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater. I mean c'mon, the man embodies what it means to be a rock star, and the fact that he has the chops to maintain a superior talent makes him the coolest prog-rocker by far (the rest of Dream Theater don't fall too far behind...except for John Myung ).

I cant decide who's the cooles of em... meby Roger

Seriusly i think Gilmour was the coolest prog rocker

And dont forget Fripp!

mmm when you start to think there where many cool prog rockers...

In the 70's they where all cool and then came the 80's and no one was cool anymore

And not the music either...

[/QUOTE]

Gilmour was pretty cool looking. Tony Levin is pretty intense-looking...he
did the whole bald thing way before it was cool (though it could very well
have been inspired by Kojak...who was very big at the time)

BTW, I don't know why, but the 80s jsut sucked the coolness out of
anyone's looks. Even Paul McCartney started sporting a mullet. How
controversial was that?

Just kidding... I think Gabriel was cool... I think Gilmour was a lot cooler, even had that fashion hair part long before all others..

But y'all know I have to agree with firth of Fith... the coolest was GREG!

Yeah, Mike has a really cool stage presence, but I could do without the constant spitting. Petrucci calls him "The Camel" on the documentary portion of Live At Budokan, and has plexiglass enclosures for all his rack and amplification equipment to prevent spit damage.

I would have to say David Gilmour is the coolest of all proggers, such an unflappable, classy stage demeanor. In fact, I (subconsciously, or not? ) copied his style of "set mouth, look down and to the side with the occasional close-lipped smile" way of playing when I was first learning guitar.

Michael Giles: the coolest, especially his attire.

Martin Barre; Such awesome hair, even though I think he was bald.

Steve Howe, especially in his mad scientist old age!

Steve Hacket

I've only seen one picture of him, but Neil Part's facial hair is awesome.

The capes are cool, but Rick Wakeman's definitely the least. I think we've found the missing link! He has long blonde hair!

BTW, I've always thought Chris Squire kind of looks like an alien, especially on the Yes Album.

they call themselves, The power choir of Humble.

God bless yall!

jk,jk, i made all that up, i dont even no if they have a name, just a funny pic i found on the internet,

My vote goes to David Gimour, but i also think Roger Waters looks kinda cool in that pompeii video during echoes part one, he's got that all black outfit on, looking a little tuff too.

Ian Anderson because of his wild-eyed crazy hobo hermit look in his young days. Nothing cooler than a guy who looks like he just came in off the alleyway standing on one leg and playing the meanest flute you ever heard.

Dave Gilmour looked pretty damn cool, too.

No idea why he is supposed to be like Van Gogh. Did he cut off an ear? But he looks pretty cool when he gets on stage with an alto and a tenor sex dangling from his neck, a soprano sax in one hand and a flute in the other, waving to the audience with both arms in the air.

Jogi Karpenkiel, Josef, Mani Neumeier, Roland Schäfer

This is a shot of Guru Guru from around 1977. They played in a tv-movie named "Notwehr" (German for "Self-Defense") then. It was about a rock group (they named themselves "Rattenfänger", "Rat Catchers", in that movie) moving into a rural area and getting into conflict with the conservative inhabitants of the village, resulting in the killing of one of the associated members of the group. Drummer Mani Neumeier was really cool in that movie. I was only 8 years old when that movie was first shown. It was rerun a few years ago, and I really was impressed with the acting of the band, especially Mani Neumeier.
