Alright, I was wondering whether this Various Artists sampler should be added to the archive... it features 6 Roadrunner Records artists, all of which made tracks coinciding with the release of God of War III for PS3. Two prominent PA prog metal artists (Dream Theater and Opeth) as well as two under analysis by the prog metal team (Mutiny Within and Trivium) are featured...

2
Shattering the Skies Above http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/trivium/id47123955" rel="nofollow - 4:42

3
Raw Dog http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/dream-theater/id730091" rel="nofollow - 7:34

4

5
The Throat of Winter http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/opeth/id3196120" rel="nofollow - 5:46

6
The End http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/mutiny-within/id338516943" rel="nofollow - 3:18

Track Listing^^

So my question... should this album be added, even though only two official PA artists are featured?

I don't see why not. We DO have a V.A. section after all, I just dpon't know who would evaluate that adition. Maybe the admins?

Well you can just add albums... or at least I have before... I was just wondering if Killswitch Engage or Taking Dawn would be welcomed at all LOL

As far as I know, there isn't anyone to evaluate such additions. I think it's up to the person who adds it to determine if it's legitimate and prog-related. I fully support it, and, considering that this is primarily a prog metal release, 2 yeses from prog metal collaborators should be enough. Thumbs Up

Can an admin confirm my assumptions?

I haven't checked them all, but I guess with 3 of the 6 bands listed on the site, it fits OK.

More interested in the Portnoy tribute addition though. What was the logic behind that given that there are no bands listed on the site on it, Portnoy's not on it, and none of the songs are written by or have ever been played by Portnoy?

"No bands" isn't quite the case.  http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=5717" rel="nofollow - Relocator does two tracks.  http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=5774" rel="nofollow - Hemina does one.  Mark Zonder is the drummer for Fate's Warning.

Hmm, still a pretty poor return for a triple CD.

I don't think so.The ep has 2 prog bands.Opeth and Dream theater(Throat of winterBig smile). The other bands are metalcore.

P.s.:I want to recommend something.Classic rock presents prog has a small column with albums that are progressive from non-prog bands and artists.I think that it would be nice PA had a column like this. What do you say?

I did recognize some bands that are said to be progressive but are also not listed on the site. I don't know any of them, unfortunately.
