I'm sure this was done a few years back, but web browsers have drastically changed in the past couple of years, with some new competitors entering the market and new web browsers are being made all the time. With this out of the way, I ask you progarchives: what web browser do you use? If you know what version you're using please post that, too. I use Opera as my primary browser. Right now I have Opera 10 and I'm trying out the Opera 11 beta (currently using Opera 11 beta), which is really great so far. Opera finally decided to add extensions and it's even faster than it already was. I'm also liking the tab stacking concept they introduced. I use Firefox 4 beta, too.

When I had a PC I suffered IE for a long time until I discovered Firefox and then Chrome. Now with a Mac, I still prefer Chrome over Safari.

Chrome, easily. I kind of dislike the fact that all copied links result in hyperlinks, but other than that there have been no flaws.

I tried Chrome but didn't see any reason to switch to it, so I'm still using Firefox. I like all the add-ons such as FireFTP + the fact that it had tabbed browsing before IE7.

I tried Chrome to see how much I'd save in resources; there was a small difference in favour of Chrome, but not enough to make me ditch FF.
The amount of resouces consumed is my main issue with FF, but they are improving (especially with the creation of the "plugin container"). When I get a good computer this is not going to be a problem anymore (my 4 year old laptop has only 500M of RAM memory).

I just switched to Chrome for the second time because of the damn Firefox freezing my old computer. The last time I switched back to Firefox because there wasn't much of a difference between the two; I think that was about a year ago. Now the difference is huge in favour of Chrome, which I'd like to keep - but it has some annoying features that I can't control. For example, can anyone tell how do I make it stop transforming any URL into a link? I can't make hyperlinks because of that.

Yeah, I'm the same, and Alex also mentioned this.
I really prefer Firefox to IE, but my CPU usage is now regularly running at 100%, and I have tried all sorts of fixes and solutions. The fact is that it is FF that is causing this, and if it carries on, I will just have to stop using it.

SRWare Iron, although it's basically a lighter and safer version of Chrome.
And Firefox users, you should try the PaleMoon browser. It's exactly like FF but revamped for better performance.

Well, I finally bit the bullet today, and downloaded Chrome. I'm typing this on the browser now, and am one happy bunny.
CPU usage finally back to where it should be and a far quicker and happier computer.
It's a shame, because I really liked Firefox, and my wife hates change on the PC, but I really couldn't carry on with taking minutes to carry out the most basic task.

I had to switch back to Firefox - the inconvenients on Chrome were minor, but decisive. It didn't let me properly use the ReadItLater add-on, it didn't have a sepparate field for address bar and google search, it didn't let me open from the bookmarks another website in the same tab, the bookmarks display was stupid and the reclining sides of the tabs annoyed me a lot. I miss the functioning spell-check, though.

Currently I'm using Chrome exclusively, but Firefox 4 will probably level the playing field again. And of course Internet Explorer 9.
What I like most about Chrome is the reduced graphical interface - no need for a full screen mode. My only complaint: The bookmarks bar is always visible - there should be a way to hide it. I also like the way IE 9 maximises the space by combining adress input fields and tabs in one row.

Hmm, in my Chrome there is no bookmarks bar. But I hate not having a menu bar, instead. I dislike having to open a new tab for any operation I want to do. I understand their quest for as much free space as possible, but my monitor is big enough, thanks.

But as far as the menu is concerned - in Chrome you can access it via the wrench symbol - no new tab needed.

Ah, so that's what probably happened with my bookmarks bar - I hid it in the first place and completely forgot about it. You can restore it by clicking Tools, then Always Show Bookmarks Toolbar. I decided to restore it too because this way I can have access to all my bookmarks without having to open a new tab, even if I hate the idea of having a toolbar whose main content I don't need. That was my problem with the lack of a menu bar - with the bookmarks toolbar disabled, I would have preferred the Menu icon to have Bookmarks; that would have been perfect.

Safari kept on crashing on me, so I switched to Chrome. There was a new patch to Safari a while back, but I'm so comfortable with Chrome that I haven't really tried it. Comfortable despite the idiotic spell checking thing that cannot be turned off except individually from every single text field. Of course it doesn't know Finnish, so whenever I write that it's all red lines all over the place. But one gets used to annoying things after a while.
edit: It seems a recent update to Chrome made it possible to turn the bloody thing off, now I'm officially a full-on Chrome user

Firefox has a spell checker. |
I know, but for some mysterious reasons it hasn't been working on this computer at all during the three years I've been using it (in which I've also reinstalled Windows and Firefox numerous times). I know how to enable and disable it, but it just doesn't work.

I've upgraded FIrefox 4 and was really missing the function to go back more than 1 page at a time, as they've removed that button now.
For those of you also missing this, just right click on the go back (or forward) button and you get a drop down list of pages.
