Symphonic and/or progressive rock. The genre is still alive and kicking. Bands from all over the world contribute to it. Not just in English: many bands sing in their own mother tongue and thus infuse the music with a bit of their own cultures. Yet hitherto, no Dutch prog band has recorded in their own language. This is about to change. Almost true. I remember a project from 1976, Zing Je Moerstaal, for which Dutch bands and artists have set poems written in Dutch to music. An eponymous album was released. Focus composed and performed some music to a poem by Jules Deelder called Avondrood. Kayak and Earth & Fire popped up as well (for more info click http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zing_Je_Moerstaal - here ).
