Symphonic and/or progressive rock. The genre is still alive and kicking. Bands from all over the world contribute to it. Not just in English: many bands sing in their own mother tongue and thus infuse the music with a bit of their own cultures. Yet hitherto, no Dutch prog band has recorded in their own language. This is about to change. Progwereld presents: PROG NL

PROG NL

Bands + tracks:

·      PB II - "Haagse Soep"

·      Knight Area - "Rijk der Schaduwen"

·      Leap Day - "Half Mens, Half Machine"

·      The Aurora Project - Alles Is Een

·      Ullysses - "Verloren"

·      Nice Beaver - "Tijdlijn"

·      Flamborough Head - "Rixt fan 't Oerd"

·      Harvest (Spanish band with Dutch front lady) - "De Stille Zwerver"

Nine Dutch star acts will record a Dutch track. In some cases, this is a translated version of an old track, but a number of bands have in fact written brand new songs for this collection. Moreover, even the Frisian language is not neglected, and it is said that a certain band from The Hague...

PROG NL is a one-of-a-kind initiative to celebrate Progwereld's tenth anniversary in April 2010. The PROG NL collection will appear in a strictly limited edition only. Gone is gone. Almost true. I remember a project from 1976, Zing Je Moerstaal, for which Dutch bands and artists have set poems written in Dutch to music. An eponymous album was released. Focus composed and performed some music to a poem by Jules Deelder called Avondrood. Kayak and Earth & Fire popped up as well (for more info click http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zing_Je_Moerstaal - here ).
