I've got tickets for Gigantour in August, and i'm so excited to see all the bands, especially Dream Theater. I just got Octavarium and loved it. I wondering what they will play for the Gigantour shows, and what their set will be like for their "an evening with" shows in Europe. I hope they do another US leg later of "an evening with" shows. Anyway, what would your Dream Theater "Dream Setlist" be for a full show ("an evening with" style)? Mine woud be: The Glass Prison Panic Attack Take The Time Caught In A Web Hell’s Kitchen/Lines In The Sand Home Scarred New Millennium Vacant/Stream Of Consciousness Under A Glass Moon Light Fuse and Get Away Fatal Tragedy ACOS IV: The Darkest Of Winters/Ytse Jam War Inside My Head The Test That Stumped Them All Afterlife Acid Rain A Mind Beside Itself Learning To Live/Metropolis Pt. 1/The Dance Of Eternity Octavarium ------------- Strangers passing in the street by chance two separate glances meet and I am you and what I see is me. i think that octavarium would be the perfect opener. The crowd grow impatient wondering when they are going to come on stage... the stage is dark and you can just make out some dark figures on stage. sudenl;y a rumbling is in the air as the looming synth opening starts to build up. The crowd go WILD The lights come on as Petrucci and Rudess rip through the air with the amazing guitar parts of the song that get louder and better. ------------- The Worthless Recluse

Octavarium I + II Strange Deja Vu Through My Words Fatal Tragedy 6:00 Ending of "Goodnight Kiss" Solitary Shell Learning To Live Vacant Stream of Conciousness Octavarium III - V Blind Faith Erotomania Voices These Walls Home Hell's Kitchen Lines in the Sand Wait for Sleep Metropolis Pt.1 The Spirit Carries On Finally Free About to Crash (reprise) Losing Time/Grand Finale I wish I could stick The Great Debate in there... and Lifting Shadows or Scarred. And Root of All Evil. And it definately needs a cover song. I'd choose "Epitaph" by KC or "Lateralus" by Tool. Those would probably fit the set the best, but I don't know how they'd handle the vocals. LaBrie doesnt match Lake or Keenan. Whatever. |

(it would be pretty sweet-about a 4- hour show), but

However, I can definitely say my choice would be to open with The Glass Prison, include Peruvian Skies, New Millenium, Erotomania, Home, and an incredible instrumedley. There are so many songs from each DT album that I love, it's hard to choose. Posted By: Metropolis

They also played (not in order) Lie, Endless Sacrifice, Panic Attack, Never Enough, Home, and encore was Pull Me Under. They also played 2 or 3 others I can't remember the names of right now. Labrie sound soooo good. He sounded better than he does in the studio recordings and better than he does on the Live at Budokan dvd. I had $35 tickets and DT by themselves made it more than worth it. Everyone should go to Gigantour! |

I have tickets for the second night, and I'm hoping to get tickets for the first night, too. Does anyone know anything about the rumours that the second night will feature one of their as-yet-undisclosed "album cover" sets? If this is true, which album would you like to hear them cover? I'd like to hear Close to the Edge by Yes, or either 2112 or Moving Pictures by Rush. Actually, I reckon they would be more likely to play Rush's A Farewell to Kings. Either Dark Side of the Moon or Wish You were Here by Pink Floyd would be cool, too.

they should open with rool of all evil then sometime during the show theyd play finally free and go straight into glass prison (and a drum solo stuck in there somwhere) as for the rest of the somgs i dont care, theyre all good ------------- Watch the sparrow falling.... |

I saw them at GIGATOUR on the 23rd and this was the setlist Glass Prison Panic attack Never enough (short contium solo) Just let me breathe Lie Drum solo A fourtune in lies As i am Home then an encore with Pull me under( untill the solo section ) right into The solo Section of Metropolis pt1( up until the bass solo tyhen into the instrumental of Under a glass moon then back into the end of Metropolis pt1 the encore was amazing
but as for mydream setlist: New mellenium hell's kitchen/lines in the sand scarred vacent stream of consiousness overture/about to crash/through my words/fatal tragedy/beyond this life
Metropolis pt 1( with dance of eternity[in its entirty] in the instrumentla section) under a glass moon space dye vest a change of seasons
ytse jam the mirror/lie finnally free/honor thy father( the transition would be during the drum solo of finnally free, the music would cut out and he'd do a small solo, rihgt into the intro of honor thy father) lifting shadows off a dream only a matter of time
encore: wait for sleep/learning to live in the name of god

The Glass Prison + This Dying Soul + The Root Of All Evil one after the other would be awesome. To be honest, I can't be bothered to think about a set list coz I love all their songs... I guess a dream gig for me would be for them to play through all their albums one after the other. |
