I saw this instrument mentioned in the liner notes for Octavarium...

Now I have to know: what is it, and when is Rudess using it?

Help!

I think I saw an article about this thing in Keyboard Magazine when it came out...I was wondering if this was it!

So is this the guitar with the weird effects in the opening? And could somebody tell me when Petrucci takes over with a real guitar? I'm really curious about this...

If I'm not mistaken, Jordan plays the Continuum and the Lap Steel in the introduction, and John comes in during the opening crash of the drum cymbals. I'm pretty sure he does all the guitars from them on.
