This is the thread for anything related to Transatlantic. I have been on a personal kick with Transatlantic, Spock's Beard, The Flower Kings (listening to The Sum of No Evil right now), Dream Theater, Marillion, Neal Morse solo, Roine Stolt solo, Jordan Rudess solo, James LaBrie solo, Agents of Mercy, Liquid Tension Experiment, Pain of Salvation and Karmakanic. I guess with so many acts you could trace it all the way to the classic bands or other modern bands like Porcupine Tree, Opeth, etc, but let's try to keep it within a reasonable list. If there's any other acts i failed to mention, please bring them up.

last year (2009) i came back to my love of prog rock, mixing it with whatever else ive been listening to at the time.

this year (2010), mostly in the last 3 months, i have moved away from most of the jazz, fusion, electronic, jam bands, hip-hop, and funk music ive enjoyed for a few years now. Ive been more into prog rock lately, but not necessarily the classic bands. Ive been fond of more modern stuff (in fact, i realize anytime i want to put on some prog rock, it's always something in the last 15-20 years)

it started with Umphrey's McGee's Mantis that came out in January 2009. then the pre-release buzz of DT's Black Clouds & Silver Linings last year.I got back into them after 2 years or so of little listening. Then when it came out i was all over it. In October 2009, Transatlantic's The Whirlwind came out and the prog rock interest in me came back almost full swing.

A few months ago i listened to DT non stop, (still kind of am) and more recently ive been digging Neal Morse's "?", Transatlantic's "Bridge Across Forever", Spock's Beard's "V" and "The Light", The Flower King's "Space Revolver", Dream Theater's "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence", Marillion's "Childhood's End", Pain of Salvation's "The Perfect Element part 1", Jordan Rudess' "Feeding The Wheel" and Liquid Tension Experiment's "Live in NYC"

these are all bands connected to Transatlantic, and i thought it was kinda funny

so this thread is dedicated to all those bands and artists related to the mighty super-group. Discuss!

You might want to check out the Flower Kings Appreciation Thread.  It's been going well over 100 pages now with plenty of discussion of Transatlantic, and the others you mention for that matter Wink.

I watched the Whirlwind Live DVD on saturday night in 5.1 Surround Sound.  It was a lot more spirited version than the one I saw in Los Angeles on the first night of the tour.  And I thought that night was fantastic!!!!  There was a little more improvisation and polish in the London version.  As it should be.  Anyway I haven't gotten to the other songs yet but I wanted to let everyone know that this is well worth the $35 for the deluxe package!
