Shining Time Station started out in the UK as ''Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends'', then moved to the USA and was expanded to include an entire cast of live actors. I remember watching this show as a kid and loving it. My favorite character by far was Mr. Conductor, the tiny magic man who also narrated the 'Thomas' sequences (lifted from the original UK series). Two actors portrayed him over the course of the television show's original run. Ringo Starr was already narrating the train sequences from the first show, so they asked him to do the part. He did . . . for awhile. Then George Carlin took over the role.

If you ever watched this show as a kid, maybe you had a favorite Mr. Conductor. I remember being very disappointed when Ringo no longer played the part, and I didn't like this 'unknown guy' who took his place. LOL So, for sentimental reasons, I chose Ringo. Anybody here even care enough about this pointless poll to vote? No? Okay, then.

I would have like to have seen George go into one of his monologues on that show.

LOL I could just see him talking to one of those kids about how honoring their parents unconditionally is bullsh*t.

I was watching Thomas when I was a kid! I found it fascinating. LOL I never knew there was an American "sequel", though.

Got to go with Ringo. I was never a fan of the acting bits, but always loved the train sequences.

My son still watches Thomas the Tank Engine, and I definitely prefer Carlin's narration to Ringo's (and I preferred his role as Mr. Conductor when I was a child).

Alec Baldwin doesn't do a bad job of narrating either.

Yep.  My two boys love Thomas, and all the DVDs we have have Carlin as the narrator, he was the best of the lot.

We mostly watch a lot of Nick Jr. though.

I apparently used to love the show but I was too young to remember it. LOL

I think both id a great job, but I'll give my vote to Carlin since he was a more unusual choice for a kid's show.

Wow . . . tied at four votes each right now. Cool.
