Welcome to Round 3 Division 1 of Battle of the Prog Bands, rematch. Since many people complained about the results of the original match of R3D1, I thought the only way to appease everyone is to do a rematch. The two contenders are Yes and Genesis. Vote for your favorite, and the band with the most votes will move onto Round 4. Please do not vote unless you have listened to at least one album by both artists (which is pretty much everyone, right?)
Here is the tournament thus far:

Round 3 Division 6 - September 9
Round 3 Division 7 - September 12
As usual, Genesis.

This shouldn't be allowed once the poll is closed, or at least admit the two bands
This poll is worth nothing if Yes fans can protest and we must accept it.

Great decision Undercoverman! The previous poll was maybe closed at an awkward moment, but then later changing to have Yes continue after the poll was another awkward surprise. So I'll stick to Yes but it's almost a toss-up for me. |

Tell me...What happens if Yes wins with a fraction of the total votes posted the last time? Lets say 80 to 90 when the last time the poll ended with more than 220 votes?
Haven't you thought that a lot of Genesis fans won't vote again because they did it before and don't expect a rematch because the Yes fans want one more chance?

I do think the original poll result should stand
Its up to you though so
I would say that the poll should n't finish when one or other band has 3 or 4 more votes than the other.
It should finish at a specific TIME then everyone knows when it finishes and if someone doesn't vote in time then tough!

Hey, this rematch has been done because a lot of Yes fans cried.
 Other bands have lost and nothing happened, but seems Yes is special.
I don't give a damn who wins, but it pisses me that if you cry enough, rules will bend, if this poll meaned something, now it's worth noyhing..

deja vu!!! i re-choose Yes!!!!! In my opinion Genesis was great but in the live shows i have heard, the vocals were a little off (Yes sometimes had the same problem but not as much) . plus Yes has been trough all these years doing their best to please fans and bring them a good experience even if personnel changes are still a problem. while genesis has given them fans more (you guessed it) POP!!!!! still i absolutely love both bands their classic period that is. |

Oh no, not again...  The other poll with 285 voters broke all records, didn't it? I don't think this can be beaten, or is here in PA a poll with more participants? So why shouldn't Yes go to the next round? Even if I voted for Genesis, I don't care much, because both are my favourite bands. |

I think this is the best option, since the results of the previous poll were tinkered with, so I support UndercoverBoy's decision to do reopen this poll. Win who wins is the same fo me, I will still consider Genesis the best band ever, wins or loose this poll.
Remember, I'm a Proghead since the late 70's and I'm used to read polls, interviews and ratings in which Prog is trashed, and my taste hasn't changed...If I cared for polls, I would be dead of anger by now.
I was just saying I would complain because it seems that each time somebody complains a rule is brooken, and that really pisses me.

I figured the last poll was just too controversial to go along with, but I have to admit this is a little bit ridiculous. Yes still has my vote, but frankly I don't think a rematch is quite necessary, seeing as how last time it was so close either band could easily have won. For a lawyer, you don't pay attention. I explained why the last poll's closing was poor. It isn't about whining just because the person you vote for loses- it's about being fair. Even the pollmaker realized that. The tournament maker has made the best decision possible. So long as he gives a fair, clear time when this poll will close and ends it accordingly, then he has righted the issue. Well done, pollmarker! Epignosis, in the first thread I was the first one (when Genesis was wining by a couple votes) to suggest both bands were promoted, bering that no other band reached the number of votes this two bands reached..
And still believe that (even when Genesis is wining by 20%)
But please, don't tell me that a lot of Yes fans didn't protested because Yes had lost, I believe you about not liking the way it was closed (even when it was in the determined day), you know me enough to be aware that if I beliieved you bitched without reason, I would had mention your name.
But a lot of people bitched just because it was Yes, and bending the rules is something that pisses me, but what pisses me is that when I insit in the rules being respectes, I'm accused of crying, when lots of Yes fans did the same a few days ago and it was OK.
Now the fans of bands that were declared not winers, can protest because a ruling had been overturned,.
And BTW: As a lawyer I pay attention to everything, if it says Sept. 19 with no mention of hour, the closing can be done at any time of the day, much more in a poll of a forum, I protested official doocuments the same day they expired and won the cases..

I still vote for Yes. However, I still think they met too early, they shouldn't have been allowed to meed until at least one more round. As a matter of fact, the polls should have been disigned so that any among Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and perhaps Jethro Tull, ELP, and Dream Theater would have met themselves the latest possible. (I believe the first four shouldn't have been allowed to meet until the very semi-finals, because they were the most likely to beat everybody else). However, we all must be grateful to Undercover Boy for desinging this polls, which have been great fun, and I certainly wouldn't have bothered myself with the time required to do this.
So, whatever happens now, Undercover Boy, just do as you see fit and don't give in to all the complaints we have to make, you will only end up hating your tournament instead of enjoying it as you and all of us should. |

Why? Yes had a steady lead in that poll. At an earlier point in the day Yes would've won. At a later point, they still would have won. Arbitrary endings are not very fair, especially since Genesis was ahead for such a very brief instance. That said, I still don't know which band I'm gonna vote for now. |

A brief instance? For a very large part of the time the poll was on they were constantly taking the lead. It was after it was off that Yes started to slaughter them.

Now, when I just cast my vote it put Yes ahead 83/80. Is that not 3 votes? How can you possibly monitor this if only seconds later the poll went to 83/81? I'm not whining. I really don't care that much. Just curious.
