Topic: How to last long here and not get mad ?

Subject: How to last long here and not get mad ?
Date Posted: September 14 2010 at 16:25

I'm here for about 1.5 years. At first, I was just foruming, doing few reviews, I even stopped visiting PA for June 2010. Then I started review a lot, getting interested in how PA and forum works, then I began involved in helping site, got into Errors & Omissions team (since Autumn 2009, I think I changed about 600 covers and album info's maybe more), then I began suggestig few artists, then Czech Prog music (quite successfully) and finally, I'm in Crossover Team, prepared to take place in Prog Metal team as well, while still reviewing (and ready to review soon).

Few minutes ago, I finished my 700th review.

So I wonder, asking mostly you, older members who are here for years. How to stay here all the time and not get mad, angry or simply pi$$ed off by various people, things, opinions of other people or even more simply bored by seeing Genesis albums poll for 200th time ?

Open discussion about topics mentioned in this post as well.

Well I left the site for about a year/year and a half.

Also I joke about trolling but why do you think I do so? I never used to years ago....

And I was never even "involved" with the site or on any teams!

And expecting people to not argue about stuff on an Internet forum is like expecting a three-month-old not to poop his pants.

EDIT: Responding to first 3 posts.

Re: Rob - I drink water, both fizzy and normal one.

Re: The one 2 months older than me - This is basically correct, when somebody wants to kick your ass, he has to come from USA to Europe, survive horrible bus ride and finally knock on my door. It's not like real life talking. But when you're angry, you're angry as you would be in your real life. You can suspend it, but you can do it in RL as well. That's what confuses me. People often say "get life", but our lives are more and more getting to be virtual ones. A lot of people say it's a bad thing.

Re: The one 5 months older than me - You talk about trolling because it provides new points of view, new horizons to explore and new discussion to began ? It's simply yet another step in your long journey ? Yep, never involved, but for me, it was what I wanted to do. I sometimes were not so active, last winter mostly, for days, taking breaks. Even now I'm "out" for 2-3 days from time to time.

Hehe, it always interests me when someone is few months older or younger than me. Someone from 1985, it's just guy I'm talking with, but someone one month younger, that's victory for my old age wisdom ;-)

or yours in this case.

Just minor victory, but life is made of such little things.

Oh my few months of age means nothing. I have the wisdom of a rock.
I just make up for it by being pretentious, trolling, and making sure everyone hears me all the time. Cool

Don't take it personally.  It's in his nature.  But he does want me to pass on a message:

I've been here for a few years and the joy of discovering new music keeps drawing me back in.  Yeah, it may sound a little corny, but it's the truth.  I think I was reviewing for about a year before I discovered the forums.  Yeah their full of bad polls, redundant threads, and people posting annoying cartoons (I don't know who I could possibly be referring to Embarrassed)  I just crack jokes and try not to be easily offended.  The occasional burst of manufactured outrage can be fun though.

The F is open to interpretation.  Like how it could mean "Febreze you" because of how awful you smell.

I think we should always be nice to everyone and anyone visiting this site, we should strive to make it a place of musical comfort, peace and harmony among all the different genres represented here in the PA.

All genres here are wonderful...but ummmm mine is the best ofcourse!!! No need for any arguing....its a fact. LOL

Actually I'm with Mr. Skeletor ............ pass another cold one please, while I look for a forum to troll Big smile

Your Cartoon thread is the one I visit mostly from Just For Fun section (which I avoid a lot, because it's ..... you know). I think I'll add two cartoon pictures I was watching recently (for hours).

Being "above", in joking nature, that's good goal.

Ben, apathy is one way how to do it, but it's not perfect as well.

Don't take anything too seriously. If you're on a genre team, don't work too hard, it's a hobby not a job. If Mike Portnoy leaves DT, start a thread about it.

Anyway, listening to prog is so unnormal you probably never had the chance to escape madness.
