Tell me about them.
One of the very few unique bands in the progressive metal genre (not including experimental/post and tech/extreme) combining DT with Cynic and an excellent use of jazz. I know, it doesnt exactly sound unique but give their second album, Delusions, a try and you'll see what I mean.

I see Opeth is not on your list... Blackwater Park is a really stellar example of tech/extreme PM. In that same vein I would recommend Between the Buried and Me's Colors, imo one of the best metal albums ever.

Loch Vostok
Seventh Wonder
A Piedi Nudi
If you like tech metalcore :
Dillinger Escape Plan
Born Under Saturn
Candiria

I have a few Opeth. Most of the obvious ones I know

Cynic and Devin Townsend are musts. Both Cynic albums are phenomenal, though they are a bit different as some 15 years went by between them. For Devy, Ocean Machine, Terria, Synchestra are the usual starting points.
If you like Opeth, Edge of Sanity's Crimson is great. For gonzo avant-metal, Unexpect's In a Flesh Acquarium is an amazing piece of work.
To-Mera and Aghora, both female-fronted jazz-metal outfits are okay. They both have some really good moments and some well played but color by numbers metal.
ed.
Indukti is a very cool band. I assume you have a little Riverside (they're both Polish and there is some cross-pollenation).
I really like the last Dead Soul Tribe album. Actually better than Psychotic Waltz which I understand is historically important, but doesn't do alot for me now. (Same Singer)
Missed a must have looking at your list:
Sieges Even: Navigating by the Stars If you like modern prog a la Flower Kings and Spock's Beard, this album is just amazing. The metal isn't really aggressive but the prog is strong with this one.

Blurring the line between heavy prog and prog metal:
Heavy Prog bands:
Enchant
Tiles
Prog Metal bands:
Thought Chamber - singer from Enchant, with some excellent instrumental work. This one always seems to be my first prog metal recommendation. For some reason it just really wowed me when I first heard it.
Roswell Six http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=65438&PID=3568221#3568221 - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=65438&PID=3568221#3568221
Hourglass - Oblivion to the Obvious. An excellent double CD in my opinion. I believe that Steve (progmetalhead) would concur, although I have seen others who didn't like it.
Anubis Gate - pretty good prog power metal.
Darkwater - debut album was really good. New album coming shortly.
Mindkey - Journey of A Rough Diamond. Good prog metal from Italy. Have a similar sound to DT and Vanden Plas.
Savatage / Jon Oliva's Pain - Progressive power metal/progressive symphonic metal. Metal centered around the keyboards of Jon Oliva.
Pravda - some excellent mostly instrumental prog metal.
Wolverine - strangely enough, a band with death metal growls that really don't bother me all that much.

How ironic!!!! I included Pravda on my list and when I go back to the main menu there is a brand new interview of the band by Torodd. http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=70960&PID=3828469#3828469 - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=70960&PID=3828469#3828469

A few others
Animals as Leaders - excellent djent influenced instrumental jazz metal
Exivious - instrumental album from the "other guys" on Cynic's new album - very good instrumental jazz metal
The Wolverine comment reminded me of Dark Suns - Grave Human Genuine. Kris Gildenlow plays on it, it's a little uneven but the high points are really good.

I would definitely concur!!
Have a look around my sig Ian. PM has such vast differences in soundscapes you may have to try a number before you find what you are looking for.
I could go on all day but taking into account who you have mentioned try these bands first:

If you like Green Carnation you might want to try In the Woods... and Drawn, same sort of thing as the first two GC albums (Journey to the End of the Night and Light of Day, Day of Darkness) but better.

What's your opinion on growly vocals and such? If they don't bother you too badly, and if you want something a bit "avant-garde", then you might not do too poorly by checking out Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

Well, I quite like a lot of Prog Metal, and I can give some suggestions:
Between the Buried and Me (start with The Great Misdirect - definitely their most accesible album. Give them a chance also, it took me a listen or two to get into them)
Shadow Gallery (I recommend "Legacy". An amazing album with an absolutely fantastic opener!)
Amaran's Plight (A one-time supergroup. It's a great album though)
Beyond Twilight (listen to Section X. Very interesting music, but quite catchy as well)

Very good recommendations above but I will have to second in particular
Enchant and Tiles for heavy prog (metal-ish)
I hope you are not missing Conception from your list (explore the whole catalogue) Also I have not seen any mention of Crimson Glory and Heir Apparent - legendary bands

Not keen on Enchant but don't consider them metal anyway. Tiles I quite like.

Posted on MMA :
Hey prog metal fans, anyone heard the russian band Mechanical Poet.
On the fabulous french website guts of darkness their music is
described as a cross between 'Harry Potter' and Pain Of Salvation, which
is quite fair as they have a strong symphonic side on one hand and the
vocalist switches easily from "quiet' to "harsh" and the "metal" music
(as opposed to the symphonic one) bears some similarities with PoS on
the other hand. I quite enjoy their album 'woodland prattlers' (I
listened to it twice during my jogging)
Not sure their other albums are on par with this one.

Try out Empty Tremor. Their music has a heavy Dream Theater flavor, but they're still extremely powerful and emotional; and best of all, I don't consider them to be a clone band.

Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor
(if you can tolerate death growls)
Exxasens - Beyond the Universe
(this is instrumental, more on post-rock side)
Isis - Wavering Radiant
(this is post-metal, and the most "weird" among these)

Coming from a guy that grew up on Metal.
Uriah Heep(Founding Father of the Progressive Metal genre)
I recommend the Magician's Birthday and Demons and Wizards Albums.
Especially the title track on the Magician's Birthday Album.
Then
The Masterpiece:Hall of the Mountain King Album by Savatage
Litmus
That's right bringing back the Lemmy era of Hawkwind!
Their Aurora album is Mind Blowing,it'll mess your world up.
Wayyy more Edgier,Heavier and above all more Spacier than the Lemmy era Hawkwind could ever dream.
Then
Recently last but not least.
Blood Ceremony:
New up and comers in Prog rock.
With that wicked and also hot babe Alia O'Brien on lead vocals and flute

I'm glad you liked them. These tracks were from their demo, which if I'm not wrong was never released. It just circulated over the internet (I don't know if legally or not). They have an official album out but the purchase links don't work as the band site is down, I just saw this

I've had a couple of recent discoveries of bands I now love:
Disillusion - Gloria. Someone also mentioned their first, Back to Times of Spendour (has much more death growls), but I absolutely love Gloria. Has an industrial undertone and some of the vocals are a bit Rammstein, but it has some varied genre influences and is a great album.
Leprous - Tall Poppy Syndrome. A 5 piece from Norway that also combine various influences to create a fantastic album IMO. Their tempo changes blend so well it's almost Opeth-like.
Oh yeah, there's a band called Porcupine Tree that are pretty good

I still have to buy the albums, but for what I've heard on YouTube, Alcest is very good too, specially "Eclaille de Lune", which is the album I've heard. This is a french "group" consisting of only one person doing all instruments, however it sounded very good. I just read a review about a band call "Artcell" from Bangladesh, I only heard one song on Youtube, but it was interesting.

Circus Maximus - The 1st Chapter..you can hear obvious DT influence but you can hear alot of meshuggah influence as well..they dont have any power metal influence like symphony x. Lots of piano and acoustic stuff to blend with the metal. Also Pagans Mind is a very good band

@ Snow Dog What do you mean you got to be kidding me?
Since you've been on Progarchives for 5 years you must know good quality music.
Well
Listening to Heavy Metal bands,i love Uriah Heep(not the 1st),their one of the bands that influenced my love for Prog-Art Rock.
And
They beautifully combine Prog and Heavy Metal, even though their under the Heavy Prog section.
They on their earlier stuff, they did a excellent job of combining Prog and Metal.
Now
If your open mind enough to appreciate Heavy Metal outside the box,you could see my point.

their songs are awesome, i listen to them 24/7..
hope you like!

While some are not Prog Metal through and through:
Mind's Eyes
Kamelot
Opeth
End
Tool
Riverside (kind of Neo Proggy at times)
Gallahad (Ditto)
maudlin of the Well (there's some metal in there, kind of experimental though)

If you want to stretch your horizons, you can try TO-MERA. I am now listening to Delusions (2008) and blown away - a mix of DT/Symph X, jazz, Opeth, gothic with female vocals - great album
