Alex Lifeson discussing some of the songs on the upcoming album....(article from The Morning Call - Allentown, PA)

Lifeson says the band has six songs pretty much ready to go and three others almost done. The group plans to write at least a couple of additional songs after the tour. At this point, the CD is shaping up to be a musically varied work.

"There is the epic song, 'Clockwork Angels,' which is really taking shape. It's a multi-parted piece, very dynamic," Lifeson says. "Then there's some stuff that's very melodic and on the softer side, on acoustic, with a strong melody. So there's great diversity there. Honestly, I can't wait until we start really working on these songs. We've sort of got them to the stage where Geddy and I were happy with the arrangements and then Neil kind of comes in and starts working on his drum arrangements, and they go from there. So they're sort of in that pre-drum stage right now, and it's great to see them come to life."

Even the news that Rush is working on an album is sending me into a state of delirious joy.

An epic piece, awesome! Obviously it won't be one of those "forced" epics either, since they haven't done one since "The Camera Eye". Maybe playing that on stage again gave them the reminder of how good their epics are

Now that I read this, I start to think about picking up the Rush thread again. I dropped it 19 years ago after they had released two disappointing albums.

I haven't REALLY heard their last oh, 10 albums. I've sort of heard them. I'm a good rush fan however up to Hold Your Fire.

A new album from Rush is always good news. I'm listening to clockwork angels via youtube right now and it sounds really good. I'm excited, especially since I loved Snakes and Arrows.

progressive metal produces much energy, however much of it is tiresome with its power chords, pounding drums, banshee vocals, only appreciated by those with short attention spans!  No more discussions on the Rush drummer. The drummer who may be the best is: Furio Chirico.

Yea that went totally over my head too.....I must be musically ignorant since I don't know who Furio is?Ermm

And correct, there is no need for more discussions on the Rush drummer.
