Since I can't vote for Peter Sellers, I'll choose the next best option - Niven! Though I do like the non-spoofs too.

Clearly no one else who has voted has watched the original Casino Royale yet. How many people in that movie were James Bond - 007?

I never cared too much about James Bond until Moore except for the books. I also liked him in The Saint.

Connery for me: he's somewhat the ultimate Bond in some way, but I also like Moore who was the first Bond I saw.

I always liked Roger Moore's portrayal of Bond. Moonraker is my favourite Bond film.

Did you know Bob Holness played the sax solo on Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street'? ![Shocked Shocked](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif)
I'll have an E, please, Bob.

Urban Myth Alert!! From Wiki-
Holness was the subject of an /wiki/Urban_myth - urban myth , initiated in the 1980s by broadcaster /wiki/Stuart_Maconie - Stuart Maconie who, while writing for the /wiki/New_Musical_Express - New Musical Express (in a section called 'Would You Believe It?'), claimed that Holness played the /wiki/Saxophone - saxophone solo on /wiki/Gerry_Rafferty - Gerry Rafferty 's song " /wiki/Baker_Street_%28song%29 - Baker Street " (1978). The true performer was /wiki/Raphael_Ravenscroft - Raphael Ravenscroft . The story clearly appealed to Holness' sense of humour as he has often played along with the myth, and has also at various times jokingly claimed to be the lead guitarist on /wiki/Derek_and_the_Dominoes - Derek and the Dominoes ' " /wiki/Layla - Layla " and the mysterious individual putting /wiki/Elvis_Presley - Elvis Presley off his stride on the famous 'laughing' version of " /wiki/Are_You_Lonesome_Tonight%3F_%28song%29 - Are You Lonesome Tonight? ".[ /wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed - citation needed ] He was recorded confirming the Baker Street story in a 1993 interview on STOIC, Student Television of Imperial College.

Seconded......Moore was mainly about pathetic jokey one-liners. Spying was/is a serious, nasty business.
One thing about Craig, tho......his head looked too small for his body. ![LOL LOL](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)
Point of note : For anyone who's interested, there's a chapter in 'The Man with the Golden Gun' where M reads Bond's dossier :
Father : Scottish
Mother : Swiss
So, Englishmen, Irishmen, and Australians NEED NOT APPLY.

Connery is kind of the classiest, but Craig ain't too shabby. I think my first one was Live And Let Die, so Moore works for me.

Just to be the ball buster-none of the above, he's a fictional character in a series of really good books written by Ian Fleming. These are just actors trying to portray him and each brings their own perspective to the role. We as individuals have our own preferences as to that interpretation. The real correct answer is-"The one I like the best."

John Dee (13 July 1527–1608 or 1609)
He was in the court of Queen Elizebeth the First and he often signed his name followed by 007. He was a Kabbalist amoung other things and that is where the idea of 007 came from.

Personally, I prefer Connery, but Daniel Craig brought an interesting edge to the character too.

Craig's Bond has already become stale. Bring back the gadgets. Bring back "Q" ( John Cleese ) . Best Bond was Lazenby. Best Bond girl was Mrs. Peel ( Diana Rigg ).
