Hi everybody.  Four pieces of news from the wide but tiny world of Emkog Records:

1. "All Over Everywhere, Inner Firmaments Decay" will be released on August 20, 2010. All Over Everywhere is a musical collective from College Park, Maryland, USA, built around the songwriting of Trinna Kesner and Dan Britton (Deluge Grander, Birds and Buildings). Inner Firmaments Decay, their first album, is a collection of eight symphonic progressive chamber folk songs in the vein of Espers, Grizzly Bear, or Magenta and "I Talk to the Wind"/"Book of Saturday"-style King Crimson, with the vocal talents of Megan Wheatley and ten supporting musicians from a wide range of backgrounds. Although not really a "rock" album, it features fairly intricate arrangements, and lush atmospheres, and includes a 10-and-a-half-minute track called "Gratitude" that closes the album in a decidedly epic manner. Samples can be heard at:

2. The second album by heavy symphonic jazz-rock group Birds and Buildings will be called "Multipurpose Trap" and should be released in January 2011. The new album might lean a little closer to jazz than its predecessor, but it will still maintain the density and intensity of the debut, adding other elements such as free-improv, heavy funk, post-rock, acoustic techno, and proggy disco (or "prosco"). For more information and an early version of the song "Miracle Pigeon," check:
http://www.emkog.com/BirdsandBuildings.html - www.emkog.com/BirdsandBuildings.html or

3. Deluge Grander is planning a three-tiered, seven-album cycle that will be released over the next ten years. The details are fairly complicated, but those who are intrigued are advised to visit http://www.emkog.com/DelugeGrander.html - www.emkog.com/DelugeGrander.html to read more.

4. For those who aren't familiar with these groups, there is an almost-brand-new 78-minute sampler CD with music from the upcoming as-yet-unreleased albums, as well as music from previous albums by Deluge Grander, Birds and Buildings, and Cerebus Effect available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/emkog - www.cdbaby.com/cd/emkog . It is full to the brim with the very best music from six albums, and at $7 costs about half as much as a regular CD.

I can vouch that the sampler is well worth the $7.  Lots of cool stuff.

7 album cycle...10 years! ShockedRawksNuke
Thars certainy ambious as all hell. I like it.

Good news bout BAB too. The first bit sounds intriguing but I'll admit I'll wait to hear some samples first.

Good luck with everything!

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Deluge Grander and Birds and Buildings are two bands I have wanted to get some stuff from for a while. Except that costs money. Hm. The pieces I've been able to hear on last.fm are excellent. But since they're not a very big band, I feel kinda bad looking for their CDs used. I'd rather be able to support them, hm.

Thanks for the comments and compliments everybody!

Liquid Eternity- the Emkog sampler CD (Item #4 above) is just for you!  ;)  Seriously!

It has the best material from the 5 finished albums I've been involved with so far.  And I tried to compensate for the things those albums were criticized most for (1-my singing, of which there is NONE on this CD, and 2-sound quality, by remastering the majority of the old stuff with some new expensive software I recently bought).  And I tried to make it not just a compilation, but a nice cohesive collection of songs, putting a lot of thought into running order and artwork.

It's part of the $5 sale at CD Baby too, which means if you buy 2 other CDs in that sale, you get all three for $5 each.  Huzzah!

Ha, forgive me, but I'm a whole-album sort of guy. And since I know I already want the B&B album and at least one Deluge Grander release (last.fm research is underway), why buy a sampler? It does look pretty cool, though.

This is awesome, have August in the Urals but still haven't got The Form of the Good although the samples sounded fantastic.  I'm excited to hear this awesome news.
