Hello, I am one of the two members of the band Bald Angels. Jeanine, the other one, is already a member. I am into various areas of prog, but especially Krautrock. Jean and I have a huge collection of vinyls and CDs at home.

Hi Friederike, and welcome!

Somehow we were expecting you here: either that or there was a crisis between the two of you, considering the time spent by Jeanine in the forum... Beware, it's extremely addictive!

I hope you enjoy your time with us, and remember: you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave...

No crisis, I had just been with my nose in a book.

I knew, just joking: Jeanine has already told us what a great couple you make. I think she was talking mainly about the stage, but I think I could read something more between lines...

It's a beautiful quote the one you have in your signature. It rings a bell, but I can't remember... where does it come from?

It is from a poem by Edgar Allan Poe.

And yes, we are more than just a couple on stage. We are married to each other. It is legal in Germany.

Yes, we already knew that! With the "good couple" thing a was meaning something more than that: many married couples are not very good together!!!

It's good that you live in a civilized country that doesn't limit your rights. Hopefully very soon we'll have the same situation in Spain and I feel really happy for that... but better keep it low, we could wake up some troglodytes in this forum...

We've been together for almost 11 years now (we'll have 11th anniversary in 13 days) and are still going strong.

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
but a dream within a dream

Nice Poe(m),

For those who haven't read it yet try this one http://www.heise.de/ix/raven/Literature/Authors/poe/works/the.raven.html - the raven

Anyway, welcome to the forum part two of the bald girls

Ahhhh, I didn't realise there were two Bald posters, I think I must have been reading both of your posts as if they were one person - no wonder I was confused

We are a bald couple. Bald on purpose. We like the completely hairless look, without eyelashes even. Call us nuts.

So you've taken a step ahead in the evolution from monkeys (keep it low, we could wake up some creationists in this forum). But be careful with your eyes, ladies, lashes serve an important function there!

We only have problems on sandy beaches on windy days. We wear shades then.

GREAT!!!

What do you think about a few musical influences directly perceptible in Krautrock. I mean drone music, minimalism, electro acoustic?

Edgar Froese of Tangerine Dream once stated that a lot of Krautock was done with a wine bottle in one hand, a hashish pipe in the other and a guitar in front of the belly, and I must admit I'm with him there. Nevertheless I like the music.

acid rock from Germany, yeah true!!! but the influence of Terry Riley, La monte young and others radical minimalist composers is obsvious on Krautrock, unless after 75 (Ash ra tempel's new sound since inventions for electric guitar is a fine exemple...). The first krautrock wave with Amon Duul, Guru Guru, Xhol and electronic meditation by TD were more rock and psychedelic, sometimes jazzy, totally free experience!

Yes, true. I'd like to mention Annexus Quam and Anima as being of that vein.

Anima is an other duo, very hard approach but inovative, experimental music with self made instruments...really acid music! Annexus Quam's osmose is kraut-jazz at its finest, sometime turning into a plaintive, dreamy tone...you have interesting tastes

Listen to "Beziehungen" of Annexus Quam; this one is even more free.

Propaganda used this as the lyric to a song on their first album - rather self consciously arty, but any band which quoted Fritz Lang and Poe is OK by me.

A rather belated welcome to a stunning couple!
