In terms of reviewing an actual full-length work, I don't have much of a problem with it... However, in terms of actually reviewing singles and small EPs, how does that work?
Do I review it 'as it is,' or do I review (and rate it) as I would a studio album?

Depends on whether it was made in a studio or live. An EP if of original material should be reviewed as an original album. I'd say the same for a single. Still you must come up with the minimum amount words. 
------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
