What's the worst album from the best band?

You see, now you've gone and done it. Opened up this controversial can of worms! Does it excite you to agitate Yes fans? Is there really a thrill in that?

Because, you see, a great many of those albums happen to be very good, and far removed from any concept of "the worst." I won't waste my time telling you why, suffice to say that if you are in fact a Yes fan, and you are doing this from out of some perverse desire, I suggest you rethink your commitment to the band and its ethos.

Peace/Out

^Cause Close to the Edge is amazing.

I really don't like Big Generator.

I really like to know your reasoning behind that choice. Seeing that you think
Big Generator and Union are better?

My reasoning is very simple really. I like the music Of Big Generator a lot more than ABWH and Union slightly more.

I'm just curious to know WHY you do. I personally like ABWH very much
because it has more of the true Yes sound. The songs are very well
thought out and arranged nicely
As far as Big Generator, they really seemed to have lost their motivation.
It all sounds like second rate eighties pop. I've given this album so many
tries in the past. I just can't get over the cheese factor. Don't get me
wrong. I enjoy many things that came from the eighties. Maybe if this
album and 90125 were not under the Yes name, I may feel different about
them. This is not Yes...a it should'nt of been Yes. They should of stuck
with Cinema as their name.

ABWH was more Yes than Rabin era Yes IMO.

I understand what you're saying Azrael, but I have no problem with Rabin Yes, I really like it.

The thing with ABWH is that althouigh its more Yes like, for some reason it just doesn't do anything for me at all. I find it a bit dull. I don't hate it though, just like it the least.

Open Your Eyes!

(I was talking about the album with the same name, not trying to persuade someone  )

Union. I gave up on them at that point. Still listen to the old stuff.

Union, Open Your Eyes and Big Generator, all have one or two good songs on them, but I really don't like these albums. The rest from this list varies from good to very good.

I voted for Union, because I think it could have been a good album, if more effort was put in it

You have to listen to Keystudio - awesome 70s-style album from Yes! Just check out the reviews here or on Amazon.

Man it was close: Union, Big Genny, Tormato, Open Your Eyes are all pretty stinky (Tormato less so)

but the wiener is...Big Generator!

man I can smell it from hereDead

Big Generator at least has some fun, but Union is an album that has no soul...the songs sound exactly the same and the songs are not good...UNION is the worst album made by Yes.

Big Generator IMO because there is something to like in most Yes albums but something went terribly wrong here

Yes, even the most magnificent tree bears sour fruit.

I think I voted for Mag. It's the only Yes album I just can't listen to. I like "In the Presence Of," but I can listen to that on the wonderful Yes Symphonic DVD.

Even with Big Generator, I program my CD for tracks 1, 6 and 7 (Rhythm of Love, Final Eyes, I'm Running) and it's a pleasant listen.

Open Your Eyes. That was supposed to be a solo album by Chris until the record co. had another idea. I did enjoy the tracks New State Of Mind, Open Your Eyes, Fortune Seller.

I am working on the naive assumption that those who voted for 'Big Generator' have never got round to hearing 'Open Your Eyes'.... it truly is an offence to the ears and, with the exception of the title track on a good day, with the wind behind it, can't be defended at any costs.

I'm assuming that the two jokers who voted for 'Drama' are just having a laugh...

I must go with Big Generator. But granted, I puked when I first heard Union/Onion. I was a newbie Yes fan at the time, and the nice Roger Dean Union cover lured me in. I didn't even look at the tracklisting. I got rid of it about 2 weeks later.

BUT, when I heard Big Generator, man, that stuff is just slick, shallow pop-garbage. It *almost* made Onion look better. But it didn't.

So I guess it's a tie.

Shame on you! It's not prog, but nice. Have you ever listened to "Open Your Eyes", that's what I call uninspired and boring. "Talk" got it's shining moments, you are def if you can't hear it.

What's so bad about BIG GENERATOR and Open your eyes, I mean I like them, shouldn't every one else too.
