I'm a long-time Who fan, and have often thought that John Entistle was actually the best musician in that band. I've also read (source unrecalled), that Entiwstle "had the misfortune to be a good song writer in a band with a great song writer." Still, he made several excellent contributions to The Who's song catalogue. Included in this poll are most of the songs he wrote for their studio albums, and I was wondering which ones you thought were his best.
Personally, I've always been attached to "The Quiet One."

I had to go with 905 here. Great lyrics, thoughtful rather than the usual cynical for the Ox. My Wife comes a close second. It's hard between these: You, Had Enough and Trick of the Light.
Those two from Who Are You are excellent, while the one from Face Dances still rocks.
I'll go for 'You' since I doubt it'll receive any vote, but mind you that Who Are You is one of my all-time fave albums.
Yes, 'The Quiet One' will not vote for 'The Quiet One' haha.

| Nice to see 905 getting some response here. That's always been one of my favourites as well. Very thoughtful. Overall, the responses so far are not far off of what I expected. One of the other thoughts at the back of my mind when I started this poll was the sense that, with the band as a whole, and arguably Pete specifically, struggling with the two post-Moon albums, John's contributions tend more to come to the fore. Apparently, this is just my own subjective impression. Certainly I'm good with that, and have no intention of arguing the point. |

Geizao: Nice point about his calm. Personally, I do not think there has been a better bassist, but it is not just his musicianship, but also his unflashy and unflappable style that really struck me any time I saw The Who live. While many musicians try to embody their music through frantic motion on stage, John embodied his simply by playing it.
