Rick Wakeman One Man Show in Bath Abbey!

Rick’s going to be playing the Steinway concert grand piano in the amazing acoustic of Bath Abbey on Friday 16 July at 7.30pm.  Rick loves playing in large religious buildings, and you can’t get much more of a wow factor than in the 13th Century Abbey, right bang in the centre of Bath, a World Heritage city famous for its Roman Baths and Royal Crescent.  Rick describes his show as follows:  Take a large concert grand piano and seat Rick Wakeman in front of the keys. After the first piece, listen to a ludicrous and funny anecdote. Repeat for approximately 2 hours!  Tickets are available from http://www.bathfestivals.org.uk/ - www.bathfestivals.org.uk and 01225 463362 and cost £25, £20 or £15.  See you there!

PRESS RELEASE

An Evening With Rick Wakeman

Take a large concert grand piano and seat Rick Wakeman in front of the keys.  After the first piece, listen to a ludicrous and funny anecdote.  Repeat for approximately 2 hours!

Bath Abbey Concert Series is delighted to announce that the legendary rock pianist, Rick Wakeman, will be performing his one-man show in the Abbey on Friday 16 July.

Rick has endeared himself to all genres and all ages, which is a rare accomplishment in this day and age, and is thanks to his incredible record sales with bands such as YES, The Strawbs and The English Rock Ensemble, plus soundtracks for more than 25 films, and numerous high profile television appearances including Countdown, Top Gear and Grumpy Old Men.

His one-man show, An Evening With Rick Wakeman, pretty much came about by accident. Quite simply, his gear didn’t arrive for a show one night and all there was available was a piano. The audience were given the choice of their money back or an evening with Rick performing on the piano and telling funny anecdotes. Only three people took up the offer of their money back, and An Evening With Rick Wakeman was born!

These performances don’t happen very often, which is why each one is very special to Rick, and hopefully to the audience as well.

The show takes place in Bath Abbey on Friday 16 July at 7.30pm.  Tickets, costing £25, £20 & £15, are available from Bath Festivals Box Office by calling 01225 463362 or by visiting their website https://bathabbey.dyndns.org/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.bathfestivals.org.uk/ -
