...to see Magma playing! Attention all Americans, the current best live band Cool is going to visit your continent this year. This is not confirmed yet but I hope it's going to happen.

News from Herve from Magma ....

Magma will be playing in Washington, DC on September 26th, 2010, at Le Maison Francaise.

Two nights earlier, they will be playing in Wurzburg, Germany, so I hope that they won't be too jet-lagged.

Sweet. Now they just need to make their way to the west coast and we'll be in business.

Indeed, I'll be watching for confirmation of the show and ticket sales, getting them as soon as I possibly can, and the best seats I can afford.

Good man. If I could afford to travel across the country to see them (if I was rich that is)  I would. If they hit any of the adjacent states here I will go, but I am pretty sure they will never come to the west coast.

You never know, I didn't expect them to come to the US at all and yet here's this and, according to one of the comments on the blogpage, possibly one in NYC as well.  West coast isn't too much of a stretch once they're already here.

Prepare for the best show of your life, my young padawan.

Anyway, I think they've been to New York a couple of years ago (?)

Shh, that was before I knew about them. WinkLOL

And I'm expecting nothing less than the best show of my life, this is the one concert I've really hoped and dreamed I'd get to see at some point.

Of course I found out about their last show in NY the day before so I can't go. So I come to Paris for a semester hoping to see them on their home turf. They're playing less than a month after I leave. Of course.

I was hoping you might be referring to the Triton concert in late June, as I thought you might not be aware that they play a concert on June 12 somewhere in the Parisian area. In this case you'll be missing both of them. Disapprove

I am probably not going to attend any concerts for the rest of this year because of financial difficulties. Cry But looking at the bright side, I have already seen Magma three times during last April Big smile

I counter your bad news with this good news:

Magma is now playing on the 18th, and Univers Zéro on the 25th. Clap

Finally, we got the Sonic Circuits lineup for this year, I've been waiting for months! I missed Evan Parker and Ned Rothenberg last year, and although I saw him a couple months ago, it wasn't as good because the other players were mediocre. If they were in a studio for a few days, they probably could have recorded a good album, but there's a wonderful synergy you get with long time improvising associates that is impossible with people who met 20 minutes ago. But maybe they're still working out the kinks with some big names, since right now the majority of those bands are local, and I can't imagine they will only have Magma, Univers Zero, Merzbow, and Fennesz as the relatively big names.

Yeah, it says on the website that the lineup is still incomplete.  Richard Pinhas is a relatively big name as well. Wink

I'd love to see Merzbow live, that's got to be an interesting experience.

By the way, http://dc-soniccircuits.org/index.php/2010-festival/ - here's the full schedule for the festival . Somehow I find it funny that Merzbow is playing at the French Embassy. I'll probably go, he's playing with an acoustic guitarist so that's cool. I'll just bring earplugs! The Univers Zero/Miriodor show might be cool, except that I've never heard an album from either of them. And a bunch of people I've never heard of are playing at Fairfax, which is only 20 minutes away from me.

Although I have to say, I didn't see Nels Cline in DC because of volume concerns, so seeing Merzbow might be pretty stupid.

I've heard some UZ, but it was ehhhhh so I never got around to an album. I feel like Art Zoyd does what they do better, and 20th century classical composers do it better still. :P

YOU AND HENRY ARE BANNED!
I'm going to go to that UZ + Miriodor show, and that includes buying plane tickets (for a rountrip in the same day) + the tickets for the show, and I'm sure it'll be worth it.
What's nice though, is that Magma will be preceded by The Muffins. That makes my decision harder.

Le Masion? Sounds pricey. I'd see Magma for like $25 bucks at the 9:30 Club, but any more than that is too much. I'll just go see Katatonia.

Yeah, I really want to know how much the tickets are, but I guess 2 months in advance might be stretching the capabilities of some of these venues. Or they just don't care about updating their website, I don't know. Somehow, however, I think Magma would not go over well with the 9:30 club crowd...

Since Jon is a jerk, http://dc-soniccircuits.org/index.php/2010-festival/ - here is the ticket information . Magma and Univers Zero is too pricey for me, but I'll probably be at Ashley Paul, Fennesz, and maybe Merzbow depending on my current feelings re: hearing damage, if anybody wants to party with the least interesting man alive.

True.  Now there are even moooooooore links since I've quoted this.  Maybe there should be a topic for the Sonic Circuits festival as a whole, rather than it sort of being discussed slightly  in the Magma thread.
