Gábor Szabó (March 8, 1936 - February 26, 1982) was a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian_people - Hungarian http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz - jazz http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitarist - guitarist , famous for mixing jazz, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop-rock - pop-rock and his native http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Hungary - Hungarian music .

My favourite albums by him are:

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacchanal_%28album%29 - Bacchanal (1968) ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye_Records - Skye Records )
  • Dreams (1968) ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye_Records - Skye Records )
Anyone else heard his stuff?

I've heard a fair amount of his music over the years -- very good musician.   I thought he was in the archives for some reason (since he isn't, this should be moved and I coulkd move to Suggest New Bands or General Music Discussions -- choosing the former).  I really like Bacchanal (this track is very good, I think).

I actually prefer the Dreams album. The first track on that is just amazing. Bacchanal is very good too.

I like Dreams too, haven't heard the album in a long time though.  I was going to include a youtube vid of "Galatea's Guitar" before, but was rushing:

I've heard some of his albums.  Like many, I suppose, I became interested due to Santana's version of Gypsy Queen.  As said, I've not heard it all, but a big Smile for what I have heard.

Sounds like a possible case for Proto-Prog. Would you support this suggestion for the Admin Team, Greg?

I won't in an 'official' capacity at this time since that would require research and a brain to make the case, and frankly, I haven't had success with ones I've endorsed (or suggested).  Maledictus Sound, for instance, I thought would be a simple one, but....

I have the album 'high contrast'. it's rather smoothy latin jazz and I like it very much.
