Saw a french band called "Mosaïque" last week end. They're labeled as "latin jazz" and their unique record "Le plein d'épices" is indeed in this musical vein.

But live they sound much more jazzrock. They do many Santana covers
as their leader Lionel Simonian is a big fan of the legendary latin jazzrock outfit; i heard pieces from the first album and also Borboletta. It sounds like current latinjazz, but also with a vintage touch thanks to guitar effects (the excellent Lionel Simonian)
and also keyboards. I could even hear echoes from other 70's jazzrock bands such as Deo Dato and Soft Machine for the most adventurous parts.

All the musicians are very good, don't miss them if you're both a Santana and a jazz fan!

Some pics of Friday's hot night

Imagine them playing "Canto de los Flores"...

I'd like to ask them to cover "Treat", the wonderful Santana piece from the first album, with its beautiful guitar/piano duel...

I love latin jazz, also called afro-cuban jazz. I will check the mosaic.
