I really want to know that is there any band that both in emo wave thing and counted as progressive? (I know the emo term is a bit complicated) Some people says for example 30 Seconds To Mars is actually progressive. I listen them and yeah their music is a bit more experimental and complex compared to another alike bands but progressive? I really wonder your opinions about this subject.

the Mars Volta is sort of the biggest emo-sorta band I can think of and Coheed and Cambria, the vocals and the relationship to the Hardcore genre, often called post hardcore and the bans that the memebers of tMV were in beforhand At The Drive in is somwhat Emo and a bit proggy.

Between the Buried and Me.

Angsty and immature.

Maybe Dredg could also be a good representative of emo-prog

They're not listed here, but I think The Paper Chase are fairly progressive, and they sort of count as "emo". I'm also a pretty big fan, although I don't like their first and latest albums very much.

And 30 Seconds to Mars are not progressive at all.

I'm currently listening to Time of Orchids 2005 Sarcast While album and would review same but can't decide if I love or hate the critter. At their best they sound like a William Burroughs cut-up of the Beach Boys, Prefab Sprout, XTC, Mercury Rev and Dinosaur Jnr while at their worst they resemble tiresome Emo brats hollering for candy at a Glenn Branca/Sonic Youth recital. Watch this space...
