I'd be interested in hearing what they do with this one!

Great! I didn't know MFSL still was active. Ps. I recommend their Tales of mystery and imagination. It sounds miles better then the deluxe edition.

Could someone explain in simple words the good points about  MFSL ? (Ok, Wikipedia told me it seems to sound better, but I need some testimonies)

Their remasters tend to be much warmer than the other releases, sounding more closely to the vinyl.  I have their version of "Fragile" and it is a lot more dynamic, detailed, and lifelike than the Atlantic remaster. If you are an audiophile, like me, these releases are as near to perfection I've ever heard, and I have many more releases as well including Tull's A Passion Play, Rush's Moving Pictures, and Zappa's We're Only In It For The Money. Additionally, they are gold discs, which means that they'll last longer than normal cds. If you are a Yes fan, then this is certainly something you should check out.

never invested in one of these... not really an audiophile... but this would be a nice choice to be a place to start  to see if there really is a difference.. worth the expense since this has always been a favorite album of mine. .

Thank you, this very interesting. As a Yes fan, I am very attracted.

(Another stupid question : do I need special material to be able to hear the MFSL ?)

I hate those. The sound is terrible! I like much better the cristal clear remasters. Usually on the former you can't listen to details you can on the latter.

nope, they will play on anything that normal cds do. If you're curious, check out Fragile:

Damn you all!  Something else to spend my money on.

I have a few MFSL LP's from way back when (DSOTM, Beatles White Album, Led Zep II, the entire Rolling Stones set).  The sound on the LP's is impeccable.  In cases where I've been able to compare (e.g., Beatles White Album MFSL LP vs. new Beatles remaster of the White Album) the MFSL blows it away.  You ain't heard Everybody's Got Something To Hide 'Cept For Me and My Monkey until you've heard that LP.

Plus if you hold the LP's up to a light source you can see through them...Big smile

As for the CD's...I don't often see these in the few remaining CD retailers around here.  The only MFSL CD I have is a double shot of Ten Years After Ssssh/Cricklewood Green.  Again the sound is remarkable, certainly better than the old LP's (though in fairness the old LP's are, well, old, and not in that great of shape).

At $30 a pop these are not for the casual listener.  But realistically if I could get my five star album on MSFL Gold CD, I probably jump at the chance.

That Fragile is looking mighty tempting.

Oh Lord, save my credit card.  Bunch of Linda Ronstadt releases available as well at $30 a pop.  We have heaven.
