I can't find their albums anywhere...

Their debut is available there, but Bath and Leaving Your Body Map are long out of print. Check out Amazon or Ebay if they have any, my copies are from Ebay. And of course you know that the new album is a free download?

Yeah, my copies are from eBay too. The debut is widely available, although Bath and LYBM are really hard to find, considering they're such amazing discs.

Yeah, I know it's a free download. I downloaded it and I loved it, that's why I want to listen to other MOTW albums. But I need to have a hard copy to fully enjoy it.
Is their debut any good?

| Psychobells... is a very good album, a bit more streight forward metal than Bath and LYBM and the production could be better but definitely worth getting.

StrangerByTheMinute,
I had to get all my maudlin CDs off of eBay as well. They are tough to find, yes, and they do tend to fetch a high price at online auctions, but usually there's at least one copy up for grabs on eBay or in an eBay store.
I would also recommend checking around www.discogs.com, because every so often, a copy of Bath/LYBM comes up for sale there as well. I've never seen any copies on GEMM.

Or just wish really really really hard for them to be reissued (which probably won't do any good).

I prefer having hard copies of albums, too. But I'll download stuff if I can't get it anywhere else. That's why I am considering downloading some of PT's rare stuff from their website, and making my own CDs of it (like Futile, the Arriving Somewhere... concert, etc)
Still need to check out MOTW. I've heard a lot of praise about them. I'm interested in checking them out.
Love your signature line, BTW!

it's a shame that fa****s like Blink-182 get to sell 25 million http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blink-182#cite_note-5 - [6] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blink-182#cite_note-6 - [7] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blink-182#cite_note-7 - [8] albums and our beloved Maudlin of the Well can't be found in the stores.

^Yeah, exactly! It sucks that genuinely creative prog music gets ignored by the masses, and tripe sells by the bucketload.

First Post!
Sorry to bring this one back from the dead, but I have some news that will probably be very exciting to you guys:
I've been in contact with Toby Driver of maudlin of the
Well regarding a vinyl pressing "Part the Second". http://www.maudlinofthewell.net/index.html - He is very interested in working with me on this release! It will likely be a double
vinyl in a gatefold jacket, two colors. It will be the first release on my new label, Antithetic Records. Would anyone here be
interested? Thanks for your feedback!
By the way, its so great to find a group of people who appreciate this band. I know they may not have the largest fan base, but the music is phenomenal!

Also, my original email to Toby was asking about pressing all 4 of their albums, but unfortunately, the first three are still under the labels control, and they apparently will not release the rights to press them. But, I can at least bring Part the Second to the masses!!

Are you planning a CD or vinyl release?
Sounds great!

Vinyl only. I figured that everyone can burn a cd from the free files on their website. No one can make a vinyl with their computer

That sounds great! I do wish they'd reissue their second and third albums, though. They're very hard to find... and expensive!

That Part the Second idea sounds awesome., by the way. How much are you planning to charge for it?

If it ends up being a double, probably $18-20. It depends on how fancy we get with inserts and colors for the vinyl. It could fit on a single LP, then it would be $15.

I'm really glad you guys are excited for this. This is the only forum that I got any response from, but it just shows that us prog fans know what's good. I just sent a reply to Toby this morning to further hash out some details about the pressing (quantities, jackets, colors, labels, artwork layout). He got back to me in less than a day with my first email. I think this will be moving along nicely in the very near future. If things go well, I may ask if he thinks Tzadik would be up for a vinyl licensing of Choirs of the Eye. Another album that deserves to be on vinyl.

Normally I don't buy vinyls, but I would be more than happy to buy both Choirs and Part the Second on vinyl. Both are modern masterpieces. Heck, this would be a good excuse to start buying vinyl too.

Thanks for your support! I have plans to do a few other releases that could be considered prog. I didn't get any response from the bands, but I think after I get myself established with this motW release, I'll have a better shot. I was thinking of doing: 1. The Postman Syndrome - Terraforming 2. Irepress - Samus Octology

I was talking to Toby the other day (it was an interview, actually, when he was playing with Secret Chiefs 3), and all his work is available directly from him. So, contact him, and he will send the album personally to you. ANd if you ask nicely, he may add a signature.

OK not THAT difficult but I'm in the same boat...I've painfully accepted I will never have them on CD (I dont really do vinyl so that's no good for me at the moment)

Just curious, does anyone actually own the Secret Song single? It's obviously easy to get the mp3, but I there isn't a single site with the cd listed, and there aren't any pictures of it online except of the front cover.

It does exist as a physical release. AFAIK, Toby would send out the CD as a sampler to anyone who wanted to hear motW around the time of its release or anyone who wanted to own a copy of The Secret Song. I do not know how many were printed.
BTW -- we've got less than 15 box sets left now.
