I have two CD's that sound grainy when I play them through Itunes and Media Player

Fragile by Yes

and Speaking of Now (which I just got in the mail) by Pat Metheny

anyone know what's up? CD's are in PERFECT condition..... Angry

^ Two questions . . . how long have you owned these CDs, and are they store bought, or CD-Rs?

EDIT: Sorry, just now realized what you said about the second disc. If it's brand new, then I have no idea. Embarrassed

I've gotten that grainy sound too, but it's typically if the disc itself is corroding. CD-Rs are more likely to go wrong, because they use dye rather than foil (as far as I am aware). I have yet for any professionally stamped CDs to get grainy on me, but a helluva lot of CD-Rs have.

When things go wrong on the computer I keep trying different things until I get it to behave. Have you tried ripping to different bit rates or a different file format? Or even just ripping it over using the same settings. Sounds like your files may have generated corrupted. Also, is this just a problem with your latest CDs? Try going back to the last CD that ripped OK and re rip a track and see if it has the same problem. Then I'd suspect either an operating system or hardware problem.

I have tried re-ripping- and also importing via Media player and importing it on itunes- the funny thing is, is that the CD played fine in my dvd player.
