I found this link on the ProgEars forum, and, since I believe many of us are acquainted with the DPRP site (I definitely am), thought their own Best of 2009 list might make an interesting talking point. I like our top a lot more - actually I only like The Incident from their Albums Top 10. And my intuition tells me that the reason for it being no.1 is the mainstream popularity PT has, not the daring change in attitude The Incident came with, which made me like this album a lot and brought a lot of disappointment for PAers. The "best artwork" title for Transatlantic makes me smile  |

Yes, indeed. This one would have been a better choice (probably as "cheap" as the one it refers to, a picture of one of the band's guy punching a tramp in his face)

Agreed on both! Their list makes ours look better and more diverse. Best artwork? You gotta be kidding me, that album cover ------------- ...that moment you realize you like "Mob Rules" better than "Heaven and Hell" |

| Dutch Progressive Rock Pages - though nowadays many of their collaborators are from elsewhere (mainly the UK, I believe). I use that site as a reference when I have to write my reviews, since they have a larger team of reviewers than we do at Progressor, and a larger server capacity, so they manage to review new albums more quickly than we do. However, I often find myself disagreeing with their reviews - and I'll stop at that, because I don't think it is good form to say negative things about another prog site. |

| ^^ I don't follow DPRP but I appreciate the fact that they did an open poll for their "awards". It's definitely interesting to see what the results are and to think about the trends of the prog-world. It provides a different point of view than that of PA (collaborator's poll), Italian Progawards (direct designation of the winners if I'm not wrong), sales charts, etc. We need them all to have a better picture of what's going on. Kudos to them the for that. |

Yeah, ferhaps. That, or DT. As a big name, I'd probably vote it somewhere as a disappointment myself, although I was much more displeased with Kotebel or Deluge Grander (strictly prog). Those were more genuine disappointments, in the sense of taking a blow. Meanwhile, I did slightly expect PT to fail. -------------

| That's quite an interesting list, Lucas, though it's also based on quite different criteria from both DPRP's and ours. Most of those albums have been rated by one or two people, with very few exceptions - which makes the scope of the list a bit limited, in my opinion. It's basically a list of all the albums released in 2009 with the rating given to them by the site's collaborators. |

I'm quite stunned that my band Relocator got a few stray votes (two for best newcomer, two for best album and one each in the guitarist and keyboard player categories) - after all, our CD didn't really come out until late January 2010. It missed its original late 2009 release date because of a pressing plant mistake with the artwork, even though those who pre-ordered already got access to advance mp3s in December. So thanks to whoever voted for us! Next time we'll hopefully do even better now that our CD is finally available and there are some reviews of it out there.
