How many of you go on Progarchives at work ?

I was won, dering how many of you spent time on this site at work, during their pause or instead of working?

It’s my case, cause i’m currently at work.

I would never, and I repeat NEVER come into Progarchives whilst at work... ooops, have to close, somebody's knocking at my office's door...

I have a highly responsible position which makes great demands on my time and intellect, so naturally I log on to Prog Archives at work because nobody's looking over my shoulder.

I was interested at the same question some time ago:

Poll Question: When are you here during your typical day?
Poll Choice Votes Poll Statistics
2 [8.33%]
0 [0.00%]
5 [20.83%]
3 [12.50%]
11 [45.83%]
1 [4.17%]
2 [8.33%]

Only 3 answered at work (or did "no Internet at home" put some people off?). Well, I'm sure one of them. My recent work - in front of PC and old newspapers - is soooo boring that I need Archives to make workdays nicer. But hey, I do my work too!

Actually we have four computers in our lab and only need two to drive the machine that does our tests/experiments , the third one being used for the data collections , leaving the fourth rather alone and unused , just collecting dust. Since this computer looks sad and abandonned , I use it to go on the net (along with my colleague) , we alternate for web applications related to our experiments which is why I am on the Prog Archives site.

Is this not a programation archives site?

"Since this computer looks sad and abandonned"

So it's was a kind of pity that make you put it in use again?
That's very generous of you!

Me too - a majority of the time I'm on here is at my office desk, although usually before 9 am, or during lunchtime.

I'm such a rebel!

Oh yeah, all the time, I'm constantly flipping between work and Prog Archives, waiting to see if some interesting thread is active or someone has given a bad review to an ELP album or something...

I RARELY get on-line at home. I log on in the morning, check out the latest news from the battlefield, log off and get some work done. Then I log on... log off.... log back on.... off again.

It's that place you have to go so that they'll pay you so you can eat and live and not starve and die and putrify on the sidewalk.

It takes forever to get packages through UPS. Ungodlyslow Postal Service.

Their commercial's tag line is Up Your Brown.

If they were busy surfin' Prog or Porn, we'd never get our stuff.

I imagine you have to personally inspect EVERY Victoria's Secretions catelogue that passes your desk? Ooops, sorry Dub. Make that Sport Illustrated.

this sentence has to the be the second time in history that prog and porn were used in the same sentance.

And why does every good thread end up with pictures of cats?

Mirco - your comment was histerical.

Gdub - UPS? i dont think we get them in the UK, the royal mail is pretty reliable i guess. You are blatently at work whilst you made that NEVER! post though.

And i always go on this site, normally staying up real late on it, im such a prog nerd. its now 2:20am

The British equivalent is TNT, and if you'd ever seen them handling fragile parcels, you'd know why we refer to them as Totally Nuked & Twatted.

BTW - Nice cats Oliver

So, here I am at my desk, surrounded by paper (whatever happened to the 1980's dream of the paperless office?), on my own (and it's gone 8:00) - shall I do some work yet?

No!
I also need very expensive cables, sources, speakers, etc..without forgetting records of course!...
and a vaporiser to consume my weed.
Oh! and yes! a roof on the top of all that to protect it from bad weather!
But, more serioulsly, why did you ask if it's all i need?

Anyway, this site is the only way for me to share my passion at work: my work colleages are very primitive and more into video games, cars, football, "Star wars"...
I'm afraid of knowing their musical tastes

Oh, I was just saying that rhetorically, you know, agreeing with your point about needing a stereo and weed. Nothing else intended. (and of course we really do need more than those two items, but they help keep me interested in the things I truly value.)
