Hello, prog family from the around the world! My first collage for the year. There you have it as I promised on my last post. This time is for one the greatest and more important band for the for this type of rock that we all love. YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES,YES, Their early music was an innovation to the world of rock that changed the life of many young people from around the world. I was one of these kids. I have been a Yes fan for many years now and still love them. However, is it their early music that still I adore and still inspire me to as artist and as human being. Jon lyrics are so beautifully sang that had made me cry for joy and made me believe that music can make you happy even if you have no clue when he says: "A seasoned witch could call you from the depths of your disgrace, And rearrange your liver to the solid mental grace".What can I say about Yes' well know album cover artist Mr. Roger Dean. His work quiet breath taking me. I used to copy his work on school notes when I was 14 years old. I can vividly remember stareding at his Yes' artwork while listening to the music and simply being ovelwelm by it.. wow what a a great experience and unfotable and I was only 13 then. It is an extremely pleasure and honor to do this collage and mess with his all ready wonderful breath taking artwork. I am hoping that I didn't f**k them up!. As some of you guys might know all ready about my collages I try extremely hard to create my collages as an unique and interesting as something that weren't done before as collage goes. I made 2 versions of the collage as you might noticed all ready. The first it is an all and only Roger Dean Yes' albums collage and the second is with the band imaging. I guess I did 2 version because I first started with dean artwork and then I started with the band fotos, but when I was done with Dean's images I liked it very much and I thought I was fine the way it was, but not complete. so I made 2 I hope you guys like them and I hope someone will use it as their wallpapers. Leave some comments!

Absolutely fantastic. I think personally it's your best so far. I will say I've never been a fan of the GFTO cover, but I thought what you did in the first collage, working him in staring at the sky of landscapes in front of him was great, poignant really.

Nice interpretation of the work thanks! . That is the beauty of art.. Everyone is welcome to a personal interpretation that even the artist himself wasn't aware of it.

I love the first one, it's more concise and the 'idea' of it all is fantastic.
The second one seems more "saturated" due to the addition of more images and the inclusion of band members. Though it's more "representative" of the band, so it's still great.
Great job, once again !

Yeah the fav is my fav but I do think that the second has some real cool parts!. but you wanted more than Dean's Landscapes? I am not quiet sure what you mean because 90% of Yes albums cover are Dean's landscapes.
Yeah the second is busy and that is the reason I made 2 version lol!!! but that is as busy as my 2 last collages before these 2. thoose are bussssssy!!!!! specially the bottom one!

Hi,
I prefer the first one as well ... we need to take the "names" and "persons" away from the collective ... that created so much amazing music ... it's too facile to say that Rick was the reason for it, or Jon or Steve ... they all were ... and deserve credit as one unit ... not many!
I prefer that we keep the faces out. Tales is not about "ego" and "face" ... and in many ways ... that is what Yes was all about ... with a handful of exceptions here and there. ... but we're all that way aren't we?

Totally agree. Your work is amazing. I would recommend you "package" your work as an artist's portfolio and send it out to various prog-related labels as examples, especially in line with any pending compilation albums where this sort of thing would be great in, either in covers or posters or even for concert programmes. All best!

A collage is a collective of pictures and in this case because I do collage of bands I feel I have to use image so of the member of a band or bands. Maybe if i was creating a totally original artwork dedicated to the band of course I wouldn't use any images at all. got it? ...

Thank you so much for your kind words and recommendation I really appreciated it. I reaaaaly reaaly would love that to happen, but sad enough I had tried and I had felt. I had send sample of the collages to magna carta progfest, nearfest, progrock magazine and many others I believe so,but haven't heard a word from any of them. I only got some praises from Hasse Fröberg of the Flower kings who he really enjoys the collages. I am just eagerly waiting patiently for the right moment, I guess. Right now, I am just doing them for the love of the muisic and waiting.

That is an excellent celebration of both the magnificent Yes and their glorious collaboration with Roger Dean - the two are synonymous really. I liked the version without the band members, although if you placed the one shot of them (the middle band sot in the wave) it may be sufficient to promote the band rather than the clutter of many varied shots - less is more you would agree in this case.
The Dean collage is superb, the colour palette using cool blue pastels and a light Close to the Edge green is atmospheric. I love those glacial formations and the floating Avatar Hallelujah Mountains are stunning!
The ominous Fragile planet looms over all as an eye in the sky and the Topographic landscape beckons the naked visitor who stands transfixed and spellbound by the majesty of creation.
It looks like Gates of Delirium in the centre and all the formations are as iconic as the Yes logo that is framed at the top of the collage, reminiscent of the album covers.
The juxtaposition of light and shade is subtle and effective. In fact the spatial sections are balanced perfectly to enhance the design. This should be on a compilation album. In fact on the cover of a magazine.
You are one talented individual.

As always thank you very much. I think that would a great idea to just add the meddle image to the first collage and it will complete. Yes, less is more but I just thought that I had to and I do think that some parts of the second version is great too. I posted some of the details of my fav part of the second one. look below:

Wow, those images are stunning! They stand alone as works of art. I think what really sets this collage up as one of your best is the use of colour and the non use of too many images. Look at the way those fish just swim effortlessly across the horizon, into impending danger where the jagged trees wait to pounce. It feels psychedelic and mesmirising when you look at the individual frames like this. I may have to swap my signature picture I think.
Thanks for the words too, i would have no problem reviewing your collages. i virtually have done so already. I am a College English teacher, and if my students came up with art work like this, they would get an A+ for Computer Graphics and Design.
Very nice work once again.
EDIT: Tried to load the Yes Collage and it wouldnt go in sig - too big or won't load blog for some reason. Ah well, good ol Dream Theater will suffice.

n cuts off the nude mans bottom so thats a relief I could not load the image as my signature to terplace this Dream Theater one make it smaller. reduce the size. that should work. VDGG Is on the list for a collage this year. Before I did this Yes collage I did a very 2 very busy collages dedicated to prog metal. if you need to see them just go for the preview page I posted them. one was of pure progmetal bands and the other was of progmetal influences. the one of pure progmetal I did include Pain Of Salvation and Riverside in many part. I don't think I will a Riveside collage yet because they don't have enough albums and I don't have enough images of this great band that I love all ready. Pain Of Salvation is one the best band of the genre and I will do a collage hopefully this year. Kiss sounds great ( great albums covers) even though I am not a fan becuase they dislike prog and specially ELP. Metallica? I do like them, but only their early stuff . I am not a big fan, but they are good. but I prefer Iron Maiden. Maiden is an incredible metal band. I think I might do one day as well. On the progmetal influences collage I uncluided many of their albums images. if it is up to me I would do a collage of all the bands out there specially the bands I love and the fans of my work, but the only problem here is time brother! TIME! unless I get hire as collage Artist for a magazine until them I can't Can you help me on that? Or anybody?

Yeah i think you are right. They had elements of Canterbury but not pigeon holed in the sub genre according to sources here.
Look forward to it...
