The Italian Progawards site recently announced it's final nominations for various album of the year awards. The second half of the nominations for best recording of 2009 are listed below - any points of view in here for these nominees?

Another vote for the mighty Volta - with an honourable mention for Wobbler's marvellous Afterglow. I'm surprised, however, not to see The Decemberists' The Hazards of Love in either list.

That's probably because they don't consider it a prog album (can't blame them).

Haven't heard a 11 of these bands.  For me it would be between Big Big Train,Oresund,Wobbler, Roswell Six, Ghosta Berlings,Transatlantic, Izz, The Tangent, Derek S., I/O Earth, The Muse, and Mars Volta.   I'd pick Big Big Train, The Mars Volta and The Tangent for my top three.  I'll have to check out the other bands I missed.  Smile

I believe I saw the album nominated for some other award on their site. As to its not being prog, it is all in the eye of the beholder.

yeah. ..that is true... but that comes with the caveat of showing a complete lack of knowledge of what prog is about to deny it is prog.  What... if Colin was English and had a cute accent...  would have that made it prog.  LOL

A month ago it would've been Transatlantic; now, however, Big Big Train's The Underfall Yard gets my vote. Brilliant.
