The Italian Progawards site recently announced it's final nominations for various album of the year awards. The first half of the nominations for best recording of 2009 are listed below - any points of view in here for these nominees?

As a general comment, our 2009 list is much better.

One vote for the amazing Forgas Band PhenomenaClap!

The one they've missed, and the one I'd pick, is Secret Green's To Wake The King. Excellent separation between the instruments, superb clarity in the vocals and a magnificent use of the dynamic range afforded by the digital format.

I've heard or have all these except Jake P. and  Copernicus.  Top three, Porcupine Tree, NoSound and Gazpacho.

I didn't listen to any.

Here http://www.babyblaue-seiten.de/index.php?content=list&yearcont=2009&top=reviews&sortBy=albums.averageRating&orientation=DESC - http://www.babyblaue-seiten.de/index.php?content=list&yearcont=2009&top=reviews&sortBy=albums.averageRating&orientation=DESC  is an impressive list of prog or prog-related albums released in 2009 (> 300). I strongly recommend the Gavin Castleton's one, a blend of prog, jazz, trip-hop, rap, pop, electronic music...even if I am practically sure it's not on PA.

The rating (wertung) is on 15 points, the most highly ratedd album is Neom's one.

Tick Tock and Idmen from this list. The Incident was a huge disappointment.

The Italian Progawards seem to have missed Miriodor - Avanti!

Miriodor are not missed - just not nominated for best recording (not to be confused with best album - which is another matter entirely).

To quite the definition of recording: "Recording is a process of capturing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data - data or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Translating - translating information to a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recording_format - format stored on a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storage_medium - storage medium often referred to as a record."

That's very true. It just felt strange that an album title like Avanti! would have been overlooked. LOL

This changes things completely. I think everybody here voted for the best "album", not the best "recording". Production wise, I think my favourite is probably The Incident.

I think that in most polls people pick their favourite regardless of what the question actually was.

I feel like none of these deserve special recognition.

Nemo get my vote closely followed by IQ.

these are some albums that would be higher up in my list than any of the poll options:
Bass Communion - Chiaroscuro
Sunn O))) - Monoliths and Dimensions
Dälek - Gutter Tactics
Steven Wilson - Insurgentes
Mastodon - Crack the Skye
The Mars Volta - Octahedron

the only one that comes up to that level of the options is the incident

Hostsonaten is brilliant, as usual . Nemo, Gazpacho, Phideaux, IQ, Eureka and the twisted P Tree are all winners. Looking to get the Moongarden though.

I would normally vote for the incident....but since Blood is struggling so far, I'll cast a vote for the fantastic OSI album
