Now that Proto-Prog Death Metal pioneers The Who are in the archive(listen to "Boris the Spider" and you too will see the influence)... it makes me wonder why the biggest influence on Proto-Progressive Death Metal is excluded... I am, of course talking about the Cookie Monster, the artist responsible for the excellent "C is for Cookie" from which all progressive death metal springs...
Some may CM simply wasn't progressive enough, but that is hogwash and belittles his contribution to the genre. Some would say he should be excluded simply by association, after all Grover, Elmo, and the very repulsive Oscar are definitely not prog enough. If so, then we should expunge Genesis from these archives, after all, we all hate Phil collins and Gabriel, Hackett, and company had the bad taste to keep him in the band.
Speaking of Genesis, it's often said by many in these archives that most Neo-prog vocalists are all Peter Gabriel wannabe's (eg. fish of Marillion) . Well by the same token, aren't Prog-death metal bands simply a weak imitation of the artist who did it best (Cookie Monster!!!) Opeth, Death, etc owe a great deal of their sound to Cookie Monster and he surely deserves a place in the archives...
------------- Fire up the flux capacitor ! We're taking this Delorean through all four dimensions.
What is the future of prog ? Genesis reunion ? I'm not telling! That could upset the thyme/space continuum.

Thyme Traveler, what on Earth are you talking about?!?
Is this a joke? Are you suggesting an actual band for inclusion? Who, what, when ,where are they? Remember people who are interested in pre-1969 period doesn't have to be familiar with the death metal scene, and vice versa. Could you provide any links? Sound samples? What are Grover, Elmo, Oscar?!? Death metal bands? Albums of the aforementioned one? That paragraph about Genesis is absolutely unnecessary. Now, please, would you provide at least something coherent that we can point our finger at and eventually evaluate it?
Forgive me if there's an obvious clue I can't figure out, but if there's a 60's band with growling vocals such in The Who's 'Boris The Spider', I would certainly want to know something about it, because the idea sounds interesting!
