(^^^Just noticed your avatar....best one I've seen yet! I'm all in favor of adding the Electric Mayhem to the PA database!)

I don't think I can vote against Roger Dean here...the face of prog, to be sure.

Although honorable mention goes out to Hugh Syme, creator of every Rush cover since Caress of Steel and every Dream Theater cover since....well, I forget, but he's done the last five or so.

I actually voted against Roger Dean for the first, and probably the last time.

I voted other, with Mark Wilkinson taking my vote. Fish-era Marillion has the most flamboyant album art I've ever seen.

Tough choice for me between Roger Dean and Hipgnosis.  The latter I think was more prolific.

Got to throw Mati Klarwein into the mix, perhaps most famous for Miles Davis' Bitches Brew cover.  Here's a site dedicated to his work.

I must confess being easily attracted to the work of Pushead, former singer of cult hardcore band Septic Death and creator of visuals for Prong, Metallica, etc. and also his own band.
I also dig Giger's work on ELP's "Brain Salad Surgery", Celtic Frost's "To Mega Therion" or Carcass' "Heartwork".
French drawer Philippe Druillet had created covers for interesting metal bands (Agressor, Sortilege, Proton Burst), William Sheller and Richard Pinhas (leader of Heldon).
