Today afternoon I listened live performance of "Music For Airports" (by Brian Eno) performed in Vilnius Airport as closing show of European Capitol of Culture 2009 program. Very attractive happening, believe me! First of all, airport lived in it's usual life with plenty of passangers on arrivals and departures (it's Christmas/New Year Eves time!), planes coming and going, flights announcments, etc.

"Gaida Ensemble", neo-classic combo of highest class classic musicians, played great Brian Eno work, with sound filled all airport departures hall. It was snow outside, and many New Year atributes in Airport hall. And children screaming, luggage piramides here and there, and all-acoustic sound of "Music For Airports" allaround. Believe me, it's much more interesting, than just to listen great recording....

I thought that I had reproduced all almost certain Bang On A Can by Live. I always thought that it wanted the album by this Version.

Back in 2006 I was lucky enough to catch a gig here in Mexico City, I actually had never heard of Bang on a Can before, I just bought my ticket because I knew the Eno work, at the end, I was really impressed, it was a brilliant performance Clap

Actually Bang On A Can's version was the first one I picked up though I was familiar with Eno's original since the LP age.  It may sound like it would be noisy, but for anyone who hasn't tried it, it's a version performed by an ensemble that lives up to the original.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Eno was so impressed by BOAC's performance that he started crying.

I first heard of them when I came across their version of Terry Riley's In C. I've really enjoyed everything I've heard from them.

Hi,

I think that even Eno would have appreciated all this ... ohh by the way ... was he one of the cameramen with one of them funny wigs on?

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
